  • ANet looking to avoid power creep with upcoming Guild Wars 2 trait tweaks

    ArenaNet is intent on improving Guild Wars 2's build diversity going forward. We know this because the company just released a dev blog detailing the team's plans for trait revisions and the like. Why don't those silly devs just increase the power of the game's weaker skills? "Well, the problem is that then we get into something called power creep," writes ANet's Johnathan Sharp. "The power of all builds and classes keeps rising as we keep making improvements, which causes instability in game balance."   • ArenaNet reveals traits and Warrior class for Guild Wars 2

    Since ArenaNet revealed the elementalist class for Guild Wars 2, fans have been clamoring for another class reveal, anxious to more details of that mysterious silhouette image. There was heavy speculation regarding the warrior class, as the ArenaNet blog and Guild Wars 2 site referred repeatedly to warriors. If you were one of those fans speculating, you'll be happy to find out you were correct: ArenaNet revealed the warrior today, along with a video, several beautiful screenshots, and an extensive description complete with a peek at some of the warrior skills. They didn't stop there, however. Game Designer Ben Miller stepped in with this update to introduce us to the system of traits. Traits will work with your skills and attributes, becoming part of your build in order to make you even more powerful. Information regarding classes, skills, and combat is near the top of the wish-list for almost every Guild Wars 2 fan -- just below "beta" and "launch" -- so this is exciting news.
