The Guitar Hero machine is set to spit out Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile: Backstage Pass for major carriers, including the Android Market and BlackBerry App World. The latest no-peripheral (unless you count the phone) entry in the music series was developed by Hands-On Mobile, which is no stranger to miniaturized music games. If you're wondering how much money there is to be made from a Guitar Hero title without any peripherals, just look to Guitar Hero III Mobile. Maybe you even bought it.

Guitar Hero III Mobile has sold over a million units according to publisher Hands-On Mobile, which had previously announced that the game had also seen over 7.5 million song downloads in under six months. Mobile phones are one thing, but we still have to wonder whether we'll see people playing Guitar Hero DS on the train in the morning. As there's obviously a market for this title, we might as well mention that the June song pack for the game will feature "Stricken" by Disturbed, along with covers of "Talk Dirty to Me" by Poison and "Rock and Roll All Nite" by KISS. We want to try and understand why people download GH Mobile, but we just hope Phase is doing as well.

We don't report on terribly many games here, but the Guitar Hero franchise seems to carry a godlike clout that demands a certain amount of respect, so we thought we'd just throw it out there that rockers, groupies, and wannabes on AT&T can now get their power chord on as of last week following a December release on Verizon. Hands-On Mobile's adaptation of the console classic will also be adding three head-bangin' new tunes as part of its April song pack: "Crazy On You" by Heart, "Laid to Rest" by Lamb of God, and "Hush" by Deep Purple. As they say, rock on.%Gallery-18024%
