In a recent interview with Billboard, Axl Rose stated that "Chinese Democracy" was coming February 28 to Rock Band, but that information has since been updated to a "spring" release. What was also unclear -- you know, given the source -- was whether Mr. Rose was talking about Chinese Democracy the song or the full album. We've followed up with Harmonix and it confirmed that the full Chinese Democracy album will be available as Rock Band DLC this spring, with no word on price. Now "Shackler's Revenge" won't be lonely anymore and it'll have its other CD playmates.[Thanks, Travis]

NASA's latest toy is an oversized robotic yo-yo dubbed the Axel Rover. Developed in collaboration with Caltech, it's designed to raise and lower itself over any environment with a motorized lever that can be used for tethering as well as scooping up materials for scientific research and maneuvering its two cameras. Two more motors run each of its wheels, which should ensure it's more than equipped to traverse anything from the Garden of Eden to otherworldly terrain right next door to Hell. • Rumor: Slash accidentally reveals Guitar Hero: Hendrix

Has frizzy-haired Guns N' Roses guitar legend Slash mistakenly leaked news of a Jimi Hendrix-themed Guitar Hero title? In an interview with Rolling Stone, the axe-shredder ended up discussing Activision's mega-franchise, and appeared to let news of a future release slip. "Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool 'cause Aerosmith's one of the bands I was heavily influenced by," he enthused. "And Metallica's doing it, that's great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they're doing a Hendrix one, which is great."While aging rock guitarists aren't our usual source for games industry gossip, this is totally believable; after all, it's likely Activision will produce a Guitar Hero: Hendrix sooner or later, given the company's love of money. But somebody at Activision needs to have a quiet word with Slash, because the man is plainly off the chain. First he changes his name to a violent-sounding verb, and now he's giving away Activision's trade secrets like they're candy. Could he be any more rock 'n' roll?[Via 1UP]

  • Rumor: Rock Band 2 to feature GNR Chinese Democracy track

According to The New York Times, the arrival of Rock Band 2 later this year will not only be accompanied by expected fanfare, but the belated blaring of scented weapon rockers, Guns N' Roses. Taken from the band's eternally upcoming album, Chinese Democracy, "Shackler's Revenge" will reportedly grace Harmonix's sequel, signaling the first time a new Axel-lent song has managed to find its way onto a disc in a very long time. While the Times views the track's in-game appearance as a portent of the band's album making it to store shelves before the great shelf extinction of 2019, less optimistic folks (that's us!) have simply accepted an unpleasant truth. Rock Band 2 is never coming out. [Via X3F]

Twenty years after "Welcome to the Jungle" was released, Axl Rose is making a comeback ... as an orc. When a woman is sexually harassed by guards, a mysterious man comes to her rescue. As they make a run for it, Guns N' Roses takes to the Warcraft stage to perform their hit song.Revenge is sweet, and so is this music video. David Ciavarella did an amazing job on the editing, creating a visually stunning scene. While I wish there were more of a storyline to it, I do love the cut scenes of the band rocking out. I highly recommend viewing the high resolution version. He also gives us a preview of what will be his final machinima film, "The Hunt." Say it isn't so, David![Via Warcraftmovies.com]Previously on Moviewatch...

  • Burnout Paradise soundtrack features Guns N Roses

Guns N Roses probably doesn't rank too high on lists of the "most prolific" or "most dependable" bands of all time. But on a list of bands that get you pumped, or, more specifically, so pumped that you almost jump up and kick your mom in the face, you'd almost certainly find GNR in the top 10. Perhaps realizing the band's inherent pumpitude, EA has requisitioned their track "Paradise City" to serve as the theme song for Burnout Paradise, which takes place in, you guessed it, Paradise City.Of course, Axl won't be by his lonesome (probably for the best, if only so he doesn't drink himself into oblivion), he'll be joined by a bevy of bands like N.E.R.D., Faith No More and Seether. MTV Multiplayer has the full soundtrack listing right here.

You may have been playing a bunch of Guitar Hero III or Rock Band recently, and be a little upset that when playing other games no one realizes what a rock god you are. Well, for players of Lord of the Rings Online, this excellent music guide will get you on your way to importing your musical prowess to the MMO scene. The guide includes information on getting started with LotRO's music system, and then proceeds to teach the scores to some well-known tunes, with most being filed under a difficulty rating. Those with rock-withdrawal will find songs like Metallica's Fade to Black and Guns 'N Roses' Sweet Child O' Mine, but there are other cool choices like the themes from Zelda and Mario, and even the Beverly Hills Cop theme Axel F. I will anxiously await the first Man, Dwarf, Hobbit or Elf to bust out Through the Fire and Flames on a lute -- coming to a tavern near you![via Lotro-life]
