According to Kojima Productions and 505 Games, the PC version will feature a new photo mode, as well as support for ultrawide monitors and high frames rates. Most intriguingly of all, however, it will include "content" from Valve's seminal first-person shooter, Half-Life.

'Death Stranding' is a great movie
Hideo Kojima builds cinematic games. His projects are visually ambitious, narratively complex and cutscene-heavy, dripping with references to the vaults of Alfred Hitchcock, George Romero and Orson Welles. Kojima is transparent about his obsession with film and how it influences his creative process. "Just like the human body is 70 percent water, I'm 70 percent film." Kojima has repeated this idea in interviews and essays throughout his 33-year career as a video game designer. It rang true when he made Snatcher in 1988, Policenauts in 1994 and Metal Gear Solid in 1998. It rings true today, with the imminent release of Death Stranding, Kojima's first project as an independent developer.
Hideo Kojima says his game studio may venture into filmmaking
In an interview with the BBC about his new game, Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima mentioned that his studio, Kojima Productions, will venture into filmmaking. This idea isn't exactly a surprising one; Kojima is famous for taking a film-like approach to game design while also being infamous for including lengthy cutscenes in his work. That said, filmmaking and game design are two different beasts. Kojima doesn't seem phased by this, though. "If you can do one thing well, then you can do everything well," he claims, seemingly bucking conventional wisdom.
The 'Death Stranding' launch trailer is here and it's eight minutes long
With a little more than a week before Death Stranding launches on November 8th, Sony has shared an eight-minute-long launch trailer for Hideo Kojima's next opus. Don't go into the trailer with the expectation to get a better sense of the game's story; more likely, you'll come out the other side with more questions than answers. It wouldn't be a Kojima game otherwise.
'Death Stranding' PS4 Pro includes a baby pod-inspired controller
Have you been so eager for Death Stranding that you've been saving a console purchase for it? You're in luck. Sony has unveiled a limited edition Death Stranding PS4 Pro bundle that will debut alongside the game on November 8th. As you might have noticed, the real centerpiece is that translucent yellow DualShock 4 controller -- yes, it's directly inspired by the creepy baby pods in the game. Sony suggests you can rock the gamepad to mimic holding the pod in your hands, but that's a little too on the nose if you ask us.
Watch 48 minutes of 'Death Stranding' gameplay
What exactly is Death Stranding? Thanks to a deep dive at Tokyo Game Show, we're finally able to answer -- or at least, better answer -- that long-standing question. The 48-minute presentation showed Sam Bridges, played by Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, wandering through more of director Hideo Kojima's eerily quiet world. But this time, we got to see a whole bunch of RPG and exploratory mechanics for the first time. These included the menu screen for picking up orders, fabricating equipment and stacking cargo on Bridges' back. Everything has a weight cost, so you'll have to carefully decide what, and where, to equip before heading out.
Hideo Kojima releases 'Death Stranding' briefing trailer in 4K
Kojima Productions has released a 4K version of Death Stranding's briefing trailer, which originally debuted at Gamescom in August. And you may want to watch it if you intend to follow all the Death Stranding news that comes out of Tokyo Game Show. Hideo Kojima will unleash two lengthy Death Stranding gameplay videos at TGS 2019 over the next couple of days, and he recommends seeing the briefing trailer first to help you understand the main character's purpose.
‘Control’ features a wonderfully surreal Hideo Kojima cameo
Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima is no stranger to bizarre antics. However, his latest might be among his weirdest. In Control, the newest game from Alan Wake and Max Payne studio Remedy Entertainment, Kojima is the star of a wonderfully strange Easter egg. Playing one Dr. Yoshimi Tokui, Kojima invites players to imagine themselves on a beach, with seagulls "fighting over a discarded bag of potato chips."

Watch this 'Heartman' cutscene to learn more about 'Death Stranding'
Hideo Kojima's upcoming "cinematic adventure" game for PlayStation 4 is still quite a mystery, but this Death Stranding trailer that debuted at Comic-Con last week reveals more about it. Leaks of the video appeared online recently, but now you can watch it at home in full quality, as the character "Heartman" -- based on filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn -- explains his connection to the world. As you may guess by his name, his heart stops every 21 minutes, allowing him to spend three minutes in "the world of the dead" before he's shocked back to life... for another 21 minutes. Death Stranding will be released November 8th, with a long list of featured stars including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Troy Baker and Guillermo del Toro.
'Death Stranding' special edition comes with life-sized baby in a pod
There have been plenty of over-the-top game bundles in recent years, but the one for Death Stranding might top them all in terms of sheer audacity. When the game arrives on November 8th, a Collector's Edition will include a life-size "bridge baby" pod. That's right -- you too can creep out friends and family by placing what looks like a pickled infant on your desk. You probably don't want to decorate your office with this one.
