Nokia's five-camera phone will include an in-screen fingerprint reader
Thanks to some leaks, Nokia's five-camera smartphone is no longer a mystery -- and it might just be one of the more intriguing handsets of 2019. Well-known leaker Evan Blass and MySmartPrice have posted stills and videos of the Android One phone, now called the Nokia 9 PureView (yes, the PureView revival is real), and it's evident that the spider-like rear cameras aren't the only trick up the device's sleeve. It'll have an under-the-display fingerprint reader, for one thing. It'll still use the 2018-era Snapdragon 845 for a processor instead of the 855, but you can expect 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, wireless charging and a 6-inch "2K" display with both HDR10 and a tall aspect ratio.
Nokia's mirror-finish 7.1 phone is coming to the US for $349
Ever since HMD Global became the home to Nokia-branded phones in 2016, only a few of those handsets have made their way to the US. But that hasn't slowed down the company's ambitions. Today, HMD Global is set to announce one more Nokia handset for the American audience. It's the Nokia 7.1, a mid-range phone with high-end sheen, and it'll be available for only $349.
The Nokia 8110 4G is smarter than your average dumb phone
HMD Global did something special at last year's Mobile World Congress, stealing the show with... a feature phone. By making ingenious use of the Nokia name, having snapped that up the previous year, it 'relaunched' the Nokia 3310. The internet swelled with a nostalgia-driven fervor as HMD put on a masterclass in brand awareness. As expected, the company returned to the mobile show this year with another retro handset in tow, and for some reason waited six months to put it on sale. But the Nokia 8110 4G, aka the "banana phone," is now here, and it's not just another marketing exercise. Thanks to a jump in software, it's not your typical feature phone. But it's not quite a smartphone, either. Instead, it's something in between.
Nokia 5.1 Plus leak suggests HMD can't resist the notch (updated)
Even an iconic brand like Nokia (or rather, HMD Global) can't resist the pressure to make phones with notched displays, it seems. Tiger Mobiles and Onleaks claim to have images of the Nokia 5.1 Plus, a mid-size handset that would pack a roughly 5.7-inch display with (you guessed it) a notch at the top. It'd also pack the dual cameras that are seemingly obligatory for most 2018 phones. The device wouldn't be too trendy, however -- there would still be a 3.5mm headphone jack at the top in addition to USB-C down below.

It's good times for Nokia. Or rather HMD Global, the Finnish company that now owns the beloved Nokia brand. After a successful holiday season the phone maker has marched into Mobile World Congress with a bevy of new devices in tow. Nokia's new affordable smartphones prioritize design
Generating hype around the Nokia brand with retro-inspired feature phones is all well and good, but that doesn't necessarily result in people opening their wallets. And to best cash in on any interest, you need a little something for everyone. To that end, HMD Global has announced a number of new Android smartphones at MWC beyond its pricey flagship. There's the Nokia 1, the company's cheapest entry-level device to date; the second-gen Nokia 6, which is going global after debuting in China last month and the Nokia 7 Plus, a bigger version of the China-exclusive 7, which was released last fall.
The Nokia 8 Sirocco edition is 95-percent glass
HMD brought a Nokia phone for all tastes to this year's MWC. Just as some people might want a retro feature phone or an entry-level smartphone, others want the best that money can buy. HMD's latest offering to these flagship fiends is the Nokia 8 Sirocco, which is pitched as a special edition of the Nokia 8 that launched last summer. Make no mistake, this isn't merely the same phone in a new funky color. It sports a completely overhauled design consisting almost entirely of glass.

Flexing its newly-acquired license to the Nokia brand, HMD put on a marketing masterclass by announcing a re-release of the iconic Nokia 3310. This year, it's attempting a similar trick, preying on '90s nostalgia with the new Nokia 8110 Reloaded.
The Nokia 8 flagship is available to pre-order in the UK
There's a new Nokia flagship in town. Okay, so the "Nokia" name is a bit of a red herring, given it's now HMD Global, a young Finnish startup, using the brand for a fresh suite of Android phones. (Oh, and a reborn Nokia 3310.) Still, the Nokia 8 is a top-end phone bearing the old iconic logo. And starting today, it's up for pre-order in the UK. You can reserve the handset in steel or "tempered blue" for £499 from Carphone Warehouse, EE, Virgin Mobile and Nokia.com. It'll then hit store shelves on September 13th in every retailer you would expect, including Amazon and John Lewis.
Nokia will unveil its first Android flagship next month
Finnish startup HMD Global will give the world its first official look at its Nokia-branded Android flagship on August 16th. The manufacturer is sending out invites for a London event on that date, reports The Verge. The news comes just over a week after renders of the handset, dubbed the Nokia 8, were leaked online.

Finnish startup HMD Global resurrected the Nokia name with a new line of Android smartphones unveiled back in February. Undaunted by lack of carrier deals, they've kept expanding it throughout the year, including releasing the Nokia 6 in the US back in June. But a few leaks have revealed images of and specs for the next smartphone in the series, the powered-up Nokia 8, which looks to be HMD's first stab at a higher-end smartphone. And yes, it will reportedly come with Zeiss optics.
HMD hopes Zeiss can restore 'Nokia' phones to their former glory
Nokia's strong reputation in phone photography stemmed in no small part from its use of Carl Zeiss optics. Whether you had an N95 or a Lumia 1020, you knew the glass wouldn't let you down. But what's happening now that HMD Global is the one making Nokia-branded phones? Are they doomed to photographic mediocrity? Apparently, you can relax. HMD has struck a deal that will see Zeiss' imaging tech used in Nokia handsets. It won't just be limited to lens design, either. The two plan to work together on "standard-defining imaging capabilities" ranging from software to screen quality.
Nokia's new smartphones start at £120 in the UK
Now Nokia's name is back in the public consciousness thanks to the all the hype surrounding the 3310 reissue, manufacturer HMD Global is onto more serious matters: Bringing Nokia back as a smartphone brand. HMD first announced the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 back at MWC in February, and finally we have firm UK pricing and availability details for the trio of Android devices. Launching first on July 12th for £120 is the Nokia 3, the lowest-end model with a 5-inch, 720p display, a quad-core MediaTek chip, 2 gigs of RAM, 16GB of storage and a pair of 8-megapixel cameras.
Amazon is selling Nokia 6 and Moto E4 with lock-screen ads
Amazon seems to be keen on growing its ad-subsidized "Prime Exclusive" lineup, because the tech titan has added five more unlocked smartphones to the list. One of them is the Nokia 6, HMD Global's first Android device in the US, which you can get for $180 instead of $229 if you're a Prime member. Moto E4, which is already incredibly cheap at $130, has also joined its Moto G siblings in the lineup for $30 less its original price. The Alcatel IDOL 5S, A50 and A30 Plus make up the rest of the five new devices and will set you back $200 ($80 lower than retail), $100 ($50 lower) and $80 ($50 lower), respectively.
HMD's Nokia 6 will arrive in the US next month for $229
Like so many European acts that tried to make it big in the US, Nokia never really managed to crack the market in its original form. But HMD Global, the company that produces smartphones using the Nokia brand, is hoping that will change with the arrival of the Nokia 6. The company has announced that, a little later than expected, the handset will be available in America at the start of July. Unfortunately, there's no carrier deal or other such tie-up, and instead you'll have to purchase the device, for cash, on Amazon.

Who knew stringing four numbers together and slapping it on a feature phone could evoke such a strong consumer reaction in 2017? Ever since HMD Global won MWC by announcing the new Nokia 3310, millennials have been frothing at the mouth in anticipation. The hype is somewhat understandable. For many people, the original Nokia 3310 would've been a totem representing their first taste of freedom. An unsupervised connection to friends; a plaything for idle hands. Nostalgia's a funny thing. It makes us leave the house in the dead of night to imprison a wild Clefairy and scramble over each other to buy an NES Classic Edition decades after we sold our original consoles for a pittance at yard sales. Companies are always finding new ways to push our sentimental buttons, and for HMD Global, that means launching a new Nokia 3310 more than 16 years after the original made its debut in 2000. But does anyone really have fond memories of a cellphone that was only good for calling your dad to come pick you up from school?
The new Nokia 3310 launches in the UK on May 24th
The reborn Nokia 3310 is almost upon us. The pint-sized handset, developed by Finnish startup HMD Global, will be available in the UK from May 24th for £49.99 unlocked. For many, that's impulse purchase territory -- which is fitting, given it's always been pitched as a cheap, 'ready for the beach or a rowdy music festival' backup phone. If you need a reminder, the device runs on the Nokia Series 30+ operating system, putting it somewhere between a feature phone and a smartphone. It runs Snake (of course) and a few other basic apps, but otherwise functionality is intentionally limited. Really, you're buying it for the nostalgia.
Nokia's new Android phones will make their way Stateside
Nokia's 3310 stole the show at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, but it wasn't the only device the brand announced at the event. It also debuted a trio of Android phones called the Nokia 6, 5 and 3. Now the company has revealed on Twitter that those three will all be available in the US. We've known for a while that there's a global release on the docket, but this confirms that you'll be able to get your hands on them when the time comes. Nokia also told another Twitter follower that the phone's projected release date is still sometime between April and June.
Nokia's fresh start hinges on these Android phones
For years, people have wondered what an Android-powered Nokia phone would look like. The company's trademark design prowess, matched with Google's software and stellar app support; a match made in heaven, right? Well, after all these years, we can finally find out. Sort of. HMD Global, a Finnish startup, has made four smartphones on Nokia's behalf. One of them, the Nokia 6, was announced at CES, while the other three are completely new. All of them will launch in the second quarter of 2017, with "global" availability through more than 500 retailers and carriers.
