In 141 years of climate records, January 2020 was the hottest January yet, according to scientists from NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. Global land and ocean surface temperatures were 2.05 degrees Fahrenheit (1.14 degrees Celsius) above the 20th-Century average, beating the previous record set in January 2016 by 0.04 degrees F (0.02 degrees C).

Konami has released some screens of their new Wii-style Dance Dance Revolution, entitled Dance Dance Revolution HOTTEST PARTY. And it mostly looks like a DDR game, with some small adjustments. Hottest Party (we're going to stop with the caps, if that's all right) includes the same Free Play and Diet Modes as other DDR games, but also includes simultaneous four-player mode for people with really big living rooms. The most noticeable adjustment is head size. That's funny, and a little weird, but totally cosmetic and won't get in the way of anyone's Dance Dance Revolving. What's a little more interesting than cranial embiggening is the Wiimote/Nunchuk usage. There seem to be special arrows that instruct players to point their hands in a certain direction, much like Samba de Amigo. Sometimes even the on-screen characters hold Wiimotes and Nunchuks. The dance pad has made it to the Wii pretty much unscathed, with no Wiimote-shaped cavities or anything. It's a basic dance pad in a Wii color scheme. It appears to be wired, probably USB. We didn't need more-- with the extra waggling, this game seems complicated enough!

Complete with commentary track! If YouTube starts allowing users to upload alternate commentaries for videos on their site, that would be the bomb, but we digress. Today's hottest game video shows Fedora Core 5 running on a PlayStation 3. It's pretty sexy when the Fedora GNOME GUI starts up, complete with hot gaming action from Blackjack and Mahjong. We're unsure how it would look in HD (craptastic?), but it has our vote as a pretty cool haxie.Soon, Linux will rule the world. Check out the video after the jump.

We're leapfrogging to spot number three tonight, because the top slots are currently being pwned by the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess trailer (117,537 views!) and the intro video that we've already hit. Coming up a distant third (a paltry 27,797 by comparison) is the PlayStation 3 web browser in hot, glorious video action. Some of the cool features are that you can have six browser sessions active at any given time, you can punch in addresses and text using the controller, a usb keyboard or *snap* a bluetooth keyboard. Slickest of all is the ability to use the left analog stick as your mouse, FTW! It will be pretty sweet to surf the web between gaming sessions, but it would be even sweeter to be able to upload screenshots of yourself owning someone online to a website using the browser. Give us some kind of smacktalk feature, Sony. We're gonna need it.

Maybe we should call it "Today's snooziest game video," because the guys at PlayStation 3 Magazine are lucky enough to have a working PlayStation 3 unit (what else?) sitting in their offices, yet they make it look like they're talking about the fuel intake on a 1978 John Deere tractor. Show some excitement! Maybe raise your voice a little bit, or jump up and get down on it. Do something. Millions of people wanna be fondling that thing, and they'd probably be howling with delight while they did it.We've seen human resources video presentations that are more exciting. Zzz. What makes it more noticeable is that we've seen these guys look a heck of a lot more exciting when handling a PS3. Maybe they've been up non-stop since they got it. We would have. Anyhow, they attempt to provide the world with a look at the PS3 startup process, and they sort of loosely take us through the steps."Once you get to this stage, it's already assigned the joypad a channel." Well, we hope so, because like the people commenting on the video, we also noticed that this unit takes a long time to start up. Also, you have to hold down the power button until it beeps to turn it off, and once it's in startup mode, you can't shut it down until it's done. Hopefully people won't mind the long load times, or the time it takes to shut the thing down. Ever try turning off your PC, and then accidentally hit the power button again after it's shut down? You have to wait until the entire startup process is done before you can shut it down, just like the PS3. Mildly annoying, but not a deal killer.Quote of the video: when explaining how the power light changes color to show disk activity, *pause* "It's just thinking about it."Check out the video after the jump, although you might want some caffeine for yourself on behalf of the PSM3Mag.com guys.
