EverQuest II is one of the most feature-rich MMOs in existence. One of the few things it doesn't didn't have is the ability for players to sprout wings and take to the skies. Oh sure, there are some pretty spiffy flying mounts, and there is even a quest line that grants Fae and Arasai avatars the ability to use their faerie wings for something other than looks. Today, though, Sony Online Entertainment is raising the bar via new sets of wings that are available to any character (of any race). These aren't just crappy looking social add-ons, either, but slickly animated functional wings on par with those in Aion or Perfect World. The catch is that they're only available in the Station Cash marketplace, and they'll set you back 1,950 points (about 20 bucks). Check out the video after the break for a brief demonstration. Also keep in mind that you'll need a character of level 85 or higher to use them. [Source: SOE press release]

That wacky Jerry Bruckheimer is at it again! MTV Movies Blog is reporting that Bruckheimer will debut a new Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie poster within his upcoming film, Confessions of a Shopaholic. In a scene half-way through Shopaholic, the new Prince of Persia poster - not the supposedly leaked version you see here - will be on display in the background in Times Square.According to the report, the new poster will feature star Jake Gyllenhaal in full-costume as Prince Dastan (remember, they named him for the film, for some reason). We're happy that we're getting a look at the new poster and all ... but Jerry, you really need to fire your market research team. Something tells me that this fan service is being wasted on the wrong demographic.

  • Dear Apple, why does Safari control my default browser?

I'm sure I have written about this before, but I can't find it so I am going to rant about it once more. With the recent release of Firefox 2, and the optimized versions, I have been fiddling with my Default Web Browser quite a bit. Apple, in all their glorious wisdom, decided that Safari is the app that controls your default web browser.Huh?Most of the time I am not running Safari, and it find it rather silly that I must launch a browser that I don't use to make yet another browser my default. This is clearly something that should be a System Preference, since this is a system wide default (logical, ain't I?). The same goes for using Mail.app to set your default email client.Come on, Apple, give us a pref pane in System Preferences to set these things globally without launching apps that you think we should be using.
