So far we've been pretty impressed with what we've seen of Kane & Lynch. The blackguards at Joystiq seemed to enjoy their time with the game at E3 as well. Thus it's with both a little joy and trepidation that we report the game is scheduled to hit store shelves on November 20th. We are happy that we'll finally be able to give the game a proper once over, but also a little worried that November is fast becoming the most densely packed month we've seen all year. Mass Effect, Rock Band (presumably), Call of Duty 4, Blacksite, Army of Two, and now Kane & Lynch. Of course, we're probably forgetting some, too.Sorry kids, looks like we're eating hot dogs this Thanksgiving. Turkey's expensive, and these games won't buy themselves.[Via Evil Avatar]

We've been impressed with the IO Interactive (Hitman) title Kane & Lynch: Dead Men ever since the first trailer popped up nearly a year ago. While we haven't seen much in the way of gameplay, the trailers so far have shown that Kane & Lynch should offer a compelling story at the very least. There are emotional relationships, interesting characters, and, of course, plenty of action. The latest trailer is no different, giving us a glimpse at the life of Kane as he writes to his daughter prior to looks like an unexpected prison break. If the final game can live up to the cinematic caliber of the trailers (and judging from our E3 impressions, it might), Kane & Lynch could be a real treat.

If you're unsure about the nature of content in IO Interactive's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, you need only a single glance at the bench you're sitting on in the Eidos E3 demonstration room. Packed beneath a layer of glass you can find either a cache of machine guns and bullets, packets of suspicious white powder (baking powder, perhaps?) or countless rows of hundred-dollar bills. Judging by the brief demonstration of the single-player component of the game, these are all items that have been thoroughly used, abused and stolen by Kane and Lynch at some point in their dubious careers.Despite sharing similar criminal and psychotic tendencies, the eponymous duo don't get along very well. Their brutish behavior and decidedly harsh vocabulary stems from the Hitman developer's desire to keep things "raw and realistic," says product manager Matt Knowles. He sums the game up as "an emotionally intense crime drama," pointing towards a bickering Kane and Lynch as they prepare to enter a vibrant upmarket nightclub. They're certainly dressed for the part, but it soon becomes clear that those snazzy suits conceal a sinister kidnapping plot.%Gallery-4814%

A new trailer for IO Interactive's Kane & Lynch: Dead Men has hit the internet, showing off the latest violent and visceral game play. For you PSP owners, take a crack at the website to download this trailer in delicious PSP widescreen format. The video is quite impressive, although we wish we stayed more awake during German language classes in college. The character models appear very well detailed and the animations ultra-smooth and realistic. Well, as realistic as a bank heist shoot-up of this magnitude would be, supposedly. We imagine we'll be seeing a lot more from this game in the next few months as it gears up for its fall release. It's on our wish list. How about yours?

  • Kane & Lynch: Dead Men gets multiplatform launch on PS3, 360, and PC

First Eternal Sonata pops up on the ESRB's site as a multiplatform Xbox 360 and PS3 title, now the previously Xbox 360 and PC title, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men is going multiplatform as well. Gamesindustry.biz reports that publisher SCi has decided to release Kane & Lynch, along with Crossfire, simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Of course, we first saw hints of a PS3 release when K&L was listed on an Atari Australia release schedule -- no word yet on those PS2 and PSP versions. But with a movie in the works, and Eidos' fears of a low PS3 penetration rate, they may still be a possibility. Kane & Lynch is scheduled to be released simultaneously on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC "in time for Christmas" 2007.[Thanks, v1cious]

  • Lionsgate takes Kane & Lynch to the movies

Involving itself in an ever-growing web of Hollywood shenanigans, Variety reports that Eidos has sold the movie rights to Kane & Lynch to Lionsgate. The Michael Mann inspired buddy-shooter should be making its way to the Xbox 360 and PC platforms by the end of the year; however, the film is quite a ways off. Adrian Askarieh and Daniel Alter will be producing Kane & Lynch, though they are currently involved with two other game-based productions. The duo was already working on another Eidos property (and probable spin-off to Kane & Lynch), Hitman, while their other project, The Rock's Spy Hunter: Nowhere to Run, has languished in pre-production hell since before the ill-fated game ever came out.So while we've been spared from the clutches of Dr. Uwe Boll this time, the chances of seeing Kane & Lynch on the big screen anytime soon are looking fairly slim.

  • Kane & Lynch sighted for PS3, PS2, PSP (down under)

According to an Atari Australia release schedule, versions of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men could be headed to PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and PSP. Officially, IO Interactive's tactical shooter has only been confirmed for Xbox 360 and PC. Eidos, which owns IO Interactive, is the game's primary publisher (not Atari). What Kane & Lynch is doing on an Atari release list is unclear, but it's possible Atari will publish the title in Australia.Atari recently announced it would be publishing Eidos' Battlestations: Midway in Australia; perhaps another collaboration is in the works for Kane & Lynch. If so, Atari might have let slip the existence of various PlayStation versions of the game. Or, it could just be a typo.[Thanks, Bruce; via Future Gamez]

  • Kane and Lynch on PSP?

Future Gamez is reporting that Atari Australia's release schedule listed Kane & Lynch: Dead Men as not just a PC and Xbox 360 game, but also for PS3, PS2 and most importantly, PSP. The game is due out June 2007 and features (at least on home consoles) co-op play with two characters. One is a morally challenged mercenary and the other is a pill popping psychopath. If this listing is more than just a mistake, it could mean great things for PSP fans. The game is developed by Io Interactive, creators of Freedom Fighters and the Hitman franchise. This game was a must buy for me on the Xbox 360 and if it comes out for the PSP as well, I'm such an Io Interactive fan that I'll likely buy both. [Via DCEmu]

  • Hitman creators working on new IP: Kane and Lynch: Dead Men

In case you don't own the August issue of Game Informer, Eidos let it be known today that the twisted minds of the Hitman franchise were currently working on a new game called Kane and Lynch: Dead Men -- which will see a 2007 launch for the Xbox 360 and PC. Game Informer described the game as "basically a third-person action game ... with a full co-op play option, intuitive squad tactics, and a hearty online multiplayer component." Only two images have been released thus far, but by the sound and look of it, it seems to be a game much like the anticipated Army of Two by Electronic Arts. We love the idea of Army of Two, so the fact that others are thinking along the same lines is quite a bonus. Check out the other image after the break.

The cover story on this month's Game Informer breaks the news on a new 3rd person action game entitled Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. The game -- developed for 360 and PC -- is from IO Interactive, the blokes behind the Hitman series. As you can see, it looks to be a little on the violent side, and is set to feature co-op and online play. Could my dreams of a buddy cop game finally be realized?Xboxygen has posted some scans from the magazine. Hit the read link to check 'em out.
