Trendy Entertainment has deposited a brand new hero class into its Steam hit, Dungeon Defenders, and you can currently get it for free. The Jester is described as "a sly trickster born in a whimsical realm of chaos," and she can use any weapon in the game, as well as drop "presents" that open up to give out random defense and extras. The Jester can also use the "Move Tower" ability to change up the gameplan during a round, and the "Wheel O' Fortuna" ability could give your team great bonuses - or hurt everybody really badly.Sounds like an interesting character choice, especially for those willing to roll the dice. The Jester DLC is free right now to download for current owners, and will remain so until Wednesday, August 22. After that, it will probably need a purchase to play: The Barbarian Hero pack currently sells for $2.99, so save yourself a few bucks and grab The Jester right away if you can.

Who's more terrifying than The Joker? For our money, it's the woman who's become so infatuated with him that she's turned to a life of insane crime just to win his approval. Initially, The Joker's psychiatrist, Dr. Harleen Quinzel, fell hard for the clown prince and hasn't looked back since. A new jester-themed wardrobe, a punny take on her name, and the rest became history. While we've seen the villain Harley Quinn in some of DC Universe Online's screenshots already, it's great to hear the official announcement of this fan favorite in the game. From her pictures, it seems as though Harley's favorite weapon is a giant carnival mallet, a combination of the cartoonish and deadly. Villain characters will have the opportunity to assist Harley Quinn in her nefarious schemes once DCUO launches next month.

Keen-eyed reader Jester has alerted us to an interesting clue that might be Cryptic's way of telling us what their other MMO in development might be. On their front page, Cryptic has a small countdown clock with a lovely space background, but no other text over it.Over at Star Trek fansite Trekcore, they've posted a ton of the concept artwork that had been previously done by Perpetual for the Star Trek Online before it got canceled. One of the pieces is the same blue-washed planet scene immediately discernible as the background for Cryptic's countdown timer. We've inset the clock into the concept piece for your viewing pleasure above. Is this a smoking gun? Or, rather, a plasma-venting core?

There you are zipping around Paragon City looking for a criminal skull or two to bust when suddenly a "hero" (or villain if you're playing CoV) named "jlaksjdflakd" clad in pink spandex and green skin suddenly pops into your peripheral. No, it's not a small childlike noob entering the city for the first time. It's something far, far worse. It's... the attack of the bottom feeding, scum sucking gold farmer!!We've all had similar experiences. No MMO is immune to these ne'er-do-wells. But the CoX universe has remained relatively unscathed. Until now. Thankfully, gamers don't have to take this laying down... and neither do the developers. In fact, they're fighting back. W00t Studios head honcho Jester just began a recurring feature called The Fight Against Spam. The series will highlight the valiant efforts of various game developers as they fight the good fight against the nefarious Real Money Traders (RMT).This first entry highlights what NCsoft has done to hinder spammers in CoX. Several months ago they implemented the "/ignore_spammer" command which lets players ignore (and automatically report to the GM's) a would be trouble maker. Once several reports against the same account are logged, they're banned. The tide of battle seems to have swung in their favor, but the supergroup at NCsoft isn't resting on their laurels. As of yesterday the in-game mail system has been drastically restricted. Now players under level 12 no longer have mail privileges, forcing these malevolent miscreants to their knees by making them do some leveling work of their own. Granted, it may only slow them down... but it's a giant step in the right direction.
