If you've always preferred shiny gadgets, the jet-black iPhone 7 is totally up your alley. A word of warning, though: Apple admits that you might have to take extra good care of it to keep it scratch-free. On the new iPhone 7 page on the company's website, part of the fine print at the bottom reads: "The high-gloss finish of the jet black iPhone 7 is achieved through a precision nine-step anodization and polishing process. Its surface is equally as hard as other anodized Apple products; however, its high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use. If you are concerned about this, we suggest you use one of the many cases available to protect your iPhone."

We know, it's just another angle -- and one that we're not quite sure the origin of -- but considering just how many years we've been waiting for the Wii to be anything other than glossy white, we'll take every opportunity we can to relish this moment. Hop on past the break for a more official look at the jet black controllers. Hey Nintendo, you do realize that North Americans love new hues too, right? Cool, just checking.[Thanks, Craig]Read - Kuro WiiRead - Black controllers

These ex-EA employees have quite the resume, being apart of five Need for Speed games, five FIFA titles and three James Bond games. Now that they've left, they have gone ahead and formed a new studio, called Jet Black Games, solely to create titles for Nintendo's DS and Wii platforms. In partnering with Flashman Studios, Jet Black Games has gotten itself an ally and representative in the industry. No news on any games they're working on just yet, but a project should be starting soon as the company just recently wrapped up work on an as-of-yet unannounced Xbox Live shooter. We can't wait to see what it is.[Via Joystiq; Thanks, Hai!]

Electronic Arts Canada veterans with resumes including five Need for Speed titles, five FIFA titles and three James Bond titles have formed their own studio to focus on Nintendo DS and Wii development. The development house, Jet Black Games, has partnered with Flashman Studios, who has helped in licensing deals with Warner Bros. and Disney/Pixar, but has also said that it intends to release original IP.Kaufman Bros. analyst Todd Mitchell recently questioned the financial benefit of third parties to support the Nintendo Wii, a topic which has come up repeatedly, especially given the competition from Nintendo's own first-party titles. Even with massive sales and lower development costs, is the Wii the best console on which a startup company should focus? No titles have been announced; according to their website, Jet Black recently ported an as-of-yet-unnamed Acronym Games 3rd person shooter from PC to Xbox Live for release in mid 2007.[Via MCV]

  • Japan gets black DS Lite too, America sulks

Many would gladly offer up their lunch money for an opportunity to get their hands on the coveted black DS Lite, but unfortunately that simply isn't good enough for the Japanese and European schoolyard bullies tossing the sleek device back and forth over the head of a constantly leaping and visibly frustrated America. Nintendo of Japan's official website has been updated to reveal the Jet Black DS Lite which sees release this September, just a few months after Europe got the dark dual-screener. Unless the Nintendo of America headquarters are equipped with cauldrons of bubbling oil and other defensive devices that deal with vehement rioters, it would seem likely that the darkest Lite won't dally too long before finally landing on North American shores. Rioters keen on seeing the Noble Pink variant, however, will likely have to wait a bit longer. Attacking Nintendo HQ astride unicorns and flinging colorful streamers at the walls has been shown to be decidedly less effective at stirring up interest -- trust us, we found out the hard way.[Thanks creamsugar!]
