One Shots: Gone fishin'
Recently, I asked about the idea of logging out somewhere special in an MMO before you cancel your subscription. While many people felt that there really wasn't much point since you can always reactivate later, some still choose to take that option, perhaps for RP reasons. Today's One Shots is one such sign-off moment from World of Warcraft, sent in to us by Kilawhar. He took the option to wax a bit about this particular image, so like the Darkfall One Shots earlier, I'm going to post the entirety of the note with more behind the break. That said, on with Kilawhar's tale!I took this screen shot the last time I was logged into World of Warcraft before letting my account expire. I have been playing since shortly after launch, and for many years have been the guild leader of a group of truly wonderful individuals. My obsession with fishing in the game was well known among the guild (I spent days and days of time trying to catch Mr. Pinchy, and I finally caught him only a week before Wrath came out), and I thought it was only appropriate that my character end the game doing what he did best (you don't get the "Salty" title for being a fishing novice, I can tell you). %Gallery-9798%
One Shots: A bug for fishing
In the vast wildnerness of World of Warcraft's Northrend, one can find the surprisingly beautiful city of Dalaran. We say "surprisingly" because Dalaran used to be covered in an enormous purple magical bubble, and the nearby buildings outside certainly weren't anything to look at. In this lovely area, for those who just love to fish, there's an spot under the city called the Underbelly. While roaming around there you can find Underbelly Elixir, which will mutate you into one of several things. We're not going to entirely spoil the surprise here, but One Shots reader Kilawhar sent this in to show off what can happen when drinking an elixir while fishing -- you become a giant firefly with a fishing pole!Are you into fishing in your favorite game? What's more fun than seeing a new raid? Seeing a new raid and downing the boss on your first night in there! Today's One Shots comes to us courtesy of Kilawhar, who is the guild leader of Children of Midian in World of Warcraft. According to him, this shot was taken while he was going through the strategy for the fight. Kilawhar writes:I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone in our casual, friendly guild for their patience as we've slowly worked our way through the raiding content in the game. For guilds like ours, it's generally a pretty long and often frustrating road -- but we made our way through! In the end it's extremely rewarding when you take down a new boss with wonderful people at your side.Agreed. MMOGs are cool, but making friends and playing with them is what really makes it fun to many of us. Congrats on your first Mag takedown, and may you have many more!
