With the RIFT beta NDA down today, I couldn't resist sharing this panoramic shot from my own personal experience in the game. (As a bonus, it's also available full-size, since the gallery doesn't like panoramic images.) In this screenshot, my character had stopped to survey a collection of shacks and lean-tos huddling on the shore. The haze hinted that something wasn't quite right with the otherwise-peaceful scene. Sure enough, within a few minutes, a rift popped up between the fishing village and a nearby graveyard, at which point everyone headed toward the rift to defend the village from attack. Thinking we'd beaten them back, I was surprised to find another rift materializing just behind the shadowy castle and graveyard outlined atop the ridge in this screenshot. It certainly proved to be an exciting day in game! If you were part of the RIFT beta and would like to share your own screenshot, pick an awesome one and email it in to us here at oneshots@massively.com along with your name and a description of what we're seeing. Please make sure it's at least 1024px wide and has no visible UI elements. If it's picked, we'll post it out here and give you the credit for sending it in! %Gallery-85937%

While the bulk of what we do here as part of One Shots are reader contributed screenshots, every so often we love to give you a look into what we're playing. This particular image comes from an event I attended on Friday evening in Fallen Earth. Dustfox, as seen to the left, is the head of a player-controlled radio station called Post Apoc Radio. Different players take turns DJing on the station (including me), where they take requests and generally have fun RPing with the community. This last Friday during DJ Dustfox's set, no less than 4 Fallen Earth GMs showed up throughout the evening to come dance with players between help calls. It was a great surprise - and a lot of fun! One Shots needs your screens! So while you're out playing - or digging through your hard drive - grab some screens for us. Send them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a brief description of what's going on in the screenshot. In turn we'll give your contribution a moment to shine, right here on Massively. How cool is that?%Gallery-9798%

With Fallen Earth's beta slated to end this upcoming Tuesday, the devs have decided to throw a party to end the apocalypse (or at least this phase of it) right. As we'd bet the Fallen Earth testers are a bit busy running around helping to find bugs to send in screenshots, I thought I'd offer this one up from my recent travels in game. This was taken outside the combat starting area, inside the territory of The Children of the Apocalypse (or CHOTA). With the CHOTA being heavily tribal, it only seemed natural to add some warpaint and piercings to my combat character, Apsynth. If you're interested in Fallen Earth, be sure to try it out before the open beta closes down - or look for my upcoming First Impressions post on it. We love indie MMOs! If you're playing an indie MMO, we want to see some screenshots from you! Just email them in to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com along with your name, the name of the game, and a quick description. We'll post it here and tell everyone about it.%Gallery-9798%

  • One Shots: Over Dalaran

Dalaran, ancient floating city of the mages in World of Warcraft. While many folks hate it for being twice as laggy as Shattrath ever was (at least for them) some of us like seeing what interesting things we can find out about the place. Being an explorer type, that would definitely be me. As anyone who's spent time in Dalaran knows, you can pick up vials of Underbelly Elixir in the Dalaran sewers, and one of the effects is to turn you into a firefly. In most of Dalaran, turning yourself into a firefly is a strict-no-no; the game will pop you out of form and leave you plummeting towards the ground. However, if you get the firefly form while standing just outside the Violet Citadel, it will allow you to fly straight up so you can take a World of Warcraft screenshot like this one! One Shots is in need of more screenshots, so if you've got some time while out adventuring, why not gather some up for us and send them to us here at oneshots AT massively DOT com? Add your name, the game it's from - guild, server and description welcome too - and you're set! In return for your act of awesome, we'll show off your screenshot to all our readers and let them know you sent it in. %Gallery-9798%

Once a week our writers will give you a glimpse into their lives, to let you get to know them and the characters they play a little better. Click here to read more Meet the Team. What do you do for Massively.com?Currently, I'm a staff writer, which means I do a bit of this and a bit of that. Additionally, I do One Shots daily and have just picked up the mantle of First Impressions, which we'll be restarting soon. Originally, I helped found the site as a co-lead, but I stepped down last month to dedicate more time towards my degree and certifications. That adult responsibility thing gets in the way of the fun stuff at times.%Gallery-33889%

Twice a week, our writers will tell you more about themselves, and let you get to know them and the characters they play a little better. Click here to read more About the Bloggers. This week features one of our "semi-alumni" bloggers, Krystalle. (She's the short one with the pink hair above -- the rest of the above folks would be some of her many guild-mates.)What do you do for WoW Insider? These days? Some back-end smacktalking helping out where you guys don't see it. I tend to float in and out giving a hand when things are quiet, and am bringing back both Reader UI and Reader WoWspace. Before I landed my current spot as one of the leads on Massively, I was a blogger here, Guild Leader & event coordinator for It Came from the Blog. I had a lot of great times with the WoW Insider readers both there and at Dragon*Con 2007, where I got to co-host several panels with Elizabeth Harper and several other great folks. (And for anyone curious, we're doing it again at Dragon*Con this year too!) What's your main right now? She's a L70 sword-specced Troll Rogue who I primarily just raid on these days. I also have a L42 Rogue that I'm bringing up, just to see how the other (dagger) side lives. Well, that and because I can't break away from the Rogues. I just love them too much.

Friday once again, which means it's time for us to ask What aRe yoU Playing in the wide world of MMOs. There's a lot of games out there, but you can only put your time into a few-- which ones did you choose? Our own lead blogger Krystalle Voecks is headed to not one, not two, but three raids in World of Warcraft (epics!), and she also says that PotBS is getting some more playtime (when she's not playing Rock Band with the family, that is). Sam Axon is in the middle of an EVE trial-- he hasn't played it much yet, but he's decided that he'll give it more of a try and see what it's like. And me, I've got a friend who's inviting me into a Tabula Rasa trial, so I may pick that up again, even though the beta didn't quite vibe with me. Oh, and outside of MMOs, I'm going to be nerding it up with Culdcept Saga this weekend too-- great game.So what are you playing this weekend? Leave a comment on this post and let us know what you're up to in the MMO game lately.Previously on WRUP...
