O2 is making good on its promise to coat the busiest parts of London in free WiFi. Between now and the end of July, seven locations including Oxford Street, Regent Street, Exhibition Road, Leicester and Piccadilly Squares will offer unfettered access -- even if you don't subscribe to O2's cellphone network. There's no word on if the network will remain free forever, but given the painful time we spent crouching in Starbucks doorways on recent trips to New York and Paris, we hope the company does the right thing for the sake of harassed visitors to the capital.

Late-night revelers and iron-sight junkies situated near London should note that Activision plans a proper launch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 at Leicester Square, on the night before the game's November 10 launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Hip square visitors to-be can gape at the shooter's action on the nearby ODEON's cinema screen, purchase it from the HMV Trocadero at the stroke of midnight, and then give Tom Cruise a solid high five on the way home. There's also talk of a secret VIP party in an underground bunker, set to feature "one of the UK's biggest male artists of 2009." Don't tell anyone, but we heard they'll also have dedicated servers there. They'll bring you whatever drink you want.

Did you know that Resistance 2 still isn't out in Europe? It's finally out in a week, but you can try your hand at 8-player co-op a whole day early if you can make it to London. SCEE has announced that a free-to-attend event will be hosted at Rendezvous, a cake and ice-cream parlour in Leicester Square. There will be free food and 8-player co-op games will be taking place from midday to 11pm on November 27th. The event is restricted to those who are 18+ only.Let us know if you'll be attending. If you're in the area, you'd be silly to say no to free food and games, right? Plus, it just so happens that a certain London-based PS3 Fanboy blogger will be in town that day anyhow, so it'll be nice to know how many readers will be in attendance.
