Breakfast Topic: Do you put WoW on display?
I'm not really hugely vocal about the games I play. I don't really talk about them to my friends outside of work or the game itself. I don't have any tattoos or T-shirts that I wear around in public. The only real concession to my Warcraft obsession is my car, really. I love my car, and I love putting things in my car, whether it's the unobtrusive Harry Potter sticker on the back, the dinosaur on my dash as a subtle nod to Firefly, or the small Horde decal in the back window. I also have a Warcraft license plate frame that looks much nicer than the dealer frame that came with the car. Most people don't really give the items in my car a second glance, but I always know when there's a Warcraft player behind me at the Starbucks drive-through line -- I'll get a glimpse of an excited driver behind me throwing the horns or expressing their delight with my vehicle in one way or another. Now, I'd never go so far as to order a custom license plate, but I don't mind my unobtrusive decal and plate frame -- it's a subtle way of expressing my delight in the game that I play. Do you openly display your Warcraft pride? Do you wear T-shirts, have a tattoo, or cover your car with stickers? Do you have a custom license plate or a set of Warcraft jewelry that you wear all the time? Or do you keep quiet about your gaming obsession, content to simply play at home and be happy about it? California considers electronic ads on license plates, we consider never moving there
Driving in California could get a little more annoying in the coming days. The Legislature of the state that brought you Brody Jenner and Spencer Pratt is now considering a bill which would allow the beginning of research into electronic license plates for vehicles. The new-fangled plates would look just like regular ones when a vehicle was in motion, but would flash awesome advertisements and other messages when stopped for more than four seconds. One San Francisco based startup, Smart Plate, is already hard at work on developing just such a device, but they're not in production yet. The measure is seen largely as a money making scheme for California, which -- like nearly everywhere else in the world -- is heavily in debt after several years of hard partying and irresponsible shopping trips. Parties interested in advertising on the plates would apparently contact the California DMV directly (then wait in line for 12 to 14 hours before submitting their preliminary application for ad space). If approved, the DMV will be required to submit its research and findings to the Legislature by January of 2013. Here's to the future!

Yes, that's Arthas admiring his own title on a license plate -- Kallis of Silver Hand sent us this shot, presumably before his head was chopped off by Frostmourne. A Fire-specced Chevy Grand Prix
Miamoryax, an undead Mage from Blood Furnace, sent us these pictures of her new car and license plate -- she took along her Carrot-on-a-stick and Horde keychain (we'd like to see pictures of that) to the DMV and decided to pick up a vanity plate that was fitting of her Mage mentality (and car's red color). Looks great, but the car's probably got to worry about pulling aggro with all that visual DPS.We've added her pics to our WoW license plate gallery, where you can see players of all specs and classes sharing their love for the World of Warcraft through their favorite mode of transportation. It's touching, really, although it does provide an interesting insight into the kinds of cars we drive around: cheap ones, by the look of it. I love motorcycles. Always have, and I probably always will. I was very excited to see that Blizzard is introducing them in Wrath of the Lich King. I'll probably spec engineering on most of my characters just to make my own little biker gang. Wouldn't it be great to see a guild rolling around looking like Fel's Angels? But how would others know you are a guild? Stonewhisper of Scarlet Crusade suggested some additional accessories from other crafters. I like his idea of having guild jackets for raiding. He also suggested using engineering for performance modifications. Something like a rocket fuel for a nitrous-oxide-like speed boost.* I could see a world of after-market parts for WoW bikes: blacksmiths could sell sissy seats and wheelie bars. Tailors could make saddle bags to add to carrying capacity. Taurens and Draenei would probably need some kind of suspension upgrade.
