JC wrote up a most excellent review for Dragon Ball Origins yesterday. If you haven't read it, you certainly should. Go on. We'll wait.Back? Good. See, his review talks about a licensed game surprising him, in terms of production values and overall quality. A fun, licensed game? Shocking, we know. There are a few out there, though. What licensed games have you found to be above the rest? They don't have to be on the DS necessarily, so feel free to shout out any. We just want to know!

  • Disney announces Bolt licensed games, our minds wander

Disney Interactive Studios announced yesterday it will release a video game based on its upcoming movie Bolt for pretty much every system currently available -- except Mac, natch. Bolt is the latest Disney CGI film -- no, that's not the same as a Pixar CGI film -- and stars John Travolta as a TV-star dog with an identity crisis ... blah, blah, blah. Why are we even bringing up this totally random licensed game that reviewers will automatically give a 7 to? Well, it's only a few more weeks until E3 2008 and we wanted to remind everyone of last year's Disney press conference. Let your imaginations run free gentle readers, what horrible thing tied into this game could Disney make journalists experience this year?

  • WayForward licensed to develop for Wii

Another Western developer has signed on to make Wii games-- hopefully they can get the funding to make some original ones. WayForward mostly makes licensed stuff these days, of undetermined quality (we haven't had a chance to test GBA Unfabulous), but they are also responsible for the excellent Game Boy Color platformer Shantae and the clever GBA shooter Sigma Star Saga. Also Ping Pals, but let's not talk about that. WayForward has actually had a Wii development kit since last year (they got access to some early pre-release duct tape) and they've been doing research and development since then. We know the licenses are coming, but we're really hoping that WayForward will have the time and resources to do some original stuff too.[Via DCEmu]
