It's easy to hate a game you once loved. Your class gets nerfed, your favorite playstyle gets changed, everyone's a Jedi -- we get that side of things. But there are also those times when you try a game in beta or at launch and it just doesn't click with you. Even worse, there are games that may do something in those first few hours that cause you to swear that game off forever. But if you paid for the game, or have some sort of investment in it, you might see it collecting dust on your shelf or making puppy-dog eyes at you from your desktop and decide that it deserves another try. That's when you discover that it might just be the best game you've ever played. Has this happened to you? Which game reeled you back in? Was it because of a patch, or just the fact that time heals all wounds? Let us know in the comments! • The Daily Grind: Do you have a love-hate relationship with an MMO?

In my experience, MMOs have the potential to be exhilarating and awesome as well as frustrating and stupid. Often times, all of these at once. Even in our most favored titles, there are annoyances that drive us up the wall and cause us to develop facial tics. So it's no surprise that any given gamer's feelings toward an MMO are going to be multi-layered and complex. We ride the rollercoaster of excitement, drudgery, victory and defeat a hundred times on any given month. However, there are some titles that defy the normal trends and become a legendary struggle for our emotions, pulling between our undying love and our sheer hatred. Is this you? Do you have a love-hate relationship with an MMO? Perhaps it started years ago, when you were seduced into its welcoming arms and you thought you'd found a match made in heaven -- only to discover its sinister side later in your gaming career. Are you constantly flip-flopping on your stance toward a game that you want to both marry and kill? Do tell -- and exorcise the demons within. • "I Hate You, E3," declares Escapist writer

Okay, so maybe not hate completely. The eye-catching title of an essay from the latest installment of The Escapist puts the emphasis on the negative aspect of the love-hate relationship many industry vets have with E3, but there's surprisingly a lot of love for the trade show here, even if you don't subscribe to the hardened "I hate E3 because I love it" theory of convention devotion. While the Joystiq staff hasn't been to quite as many E3s as the founder of the International Game Journalists Association (IGJA), we can certainly empathize with the world-weariness that might accumulate after years of weeklong death- press-marches and working in overcrowded, sensory-overloaded spaces. We just hope our love of the game(s) will stay with us as it has for Mr. Thomas, whether we're watching from home or working the show floor in person in post-apocalyptic L.A. The parties will be sure to be awesome.See also: Joystiq at E3 2006 mega-site The Escapist's big E3 issue this week, with references within to Joystiq's Paris Hilton story and some E3 party pics orig. from Joystiq The Game of Journalism -- the IGJA's official web site
