Here's an endearing little film called Flapping Feast from Tinkersmith Productions. It brings us that universally heartwarming story of a boy and his... um, chicken. Well, the chicken's a man, actually. And the boy is a middle-aged gnome named Falkireohan Tinkersmith the Second. But nonetheless! As I was saying... This film tells the tale of a gnome whose self-defense spell against a ganker goes horribly wrong and, in his guilt, Falkie tries to set things right as much as he can. The story logic is, assuredly, like a Grimm fairy tale -- the only way a man-who-thinks-he's-a-chicken can live happily ever after is if he has a pullet for a bride? -- and it has a feel to it without much of a character arc, but choosing a child to voice the 50-ish gnome and the folk-taleaccented English somehow works for me. And anyone who doesn't crack up laughing at the music which plays over the credits needs to get their funny bone examined. You may want to also view the sequel called Flapping Feast 2, but I didn't find it as charming as the original.[Via Machinima.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

For fans of Machinima.com, Inside World of Warcraft won't be new for you. However, those new to the IWoW series will enjoy the three episodes out so far. It is a comedy news series (sometimes) starring Macheath, of Oblivious Films.Typically, the host spends some time telling jokes, then launches into a few pieces of humorous news, complete with banter. While not much is covered in six minutes, and it can be hard to take the news seriously given the delivery of it, Inside World of Warcraft is still an enjoyable machinima news program. There needs to be more programs like this for all platforms! If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

In 2006, Douglas Gayeton, of Millions of Us, ventured into the virtual world of Second Life as Molotov Alva. Here and there, he made a few friends, and documented the entire process. When he looked back, he had hundreds of hours of footage and began to sift through it to weave a story. After completing it, he posted it to YouTube, where HBO executives took notice, finally premiering it last night on Cinemax.com.Molotov Alva and His Search for the Creator: A Second Life Odyssey is about a man that gives up his real life to escape in a virtual one. With new friend, Orhalla Zander, by his side, they venture forth in a search to meet the Creator of this magical place they're in. Along the way, he is tempted into griefing, tries out relationships, and learns a lot about himself in the process.[Via Cinemax]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them. (Please note that this machinima contains some harsh language. In addition, machinima.com is down at this moment, but you can find a higher quality stream of the video there.)In November, we spoke of a hybrid machinima movement that involved blending one engine with multiple tools in order to create a finished product. Baron Soosdon has been an early adopter of this, as he normally blends World of Warcraft with Unreal Tournament, as well as WoW Model and Map Viewers.Baron's latest project, Kake Buk Island: Episode 1 - "You Damn Beach" is a comedy adventure that is part action, part thriller, and part ... Rick Astley? The movie is about an orc that wakes up on an island and encounters two girls whose pig he must rescue from a sinister villain. While the voice acting is pretty horrible, the visual quality of the two mediums is excellent. We look forward to the sequel! If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

Baron Soosdon has been threatening to make a plotline machinima for quite some time, so it's good to see that he followed through with it! Kake Buk Island: Episode 1 - "You Damn Beach" is about an orc, Thok, that wakes up on a strange island. While exploring the island, he befriends two girls, Noki and Jiki, that need his help rescuing their pig from the sinister gnome, Sergei Gnum. All is not as it seems on Kake Buk Island, but I guess we'll have to wait for Episode 2 to find out!KBI: YDB has an incredible line-up of special guests, including Drewbie, Olibith, and Baron himself, but I'm not sure what was up with some of the dialogue. Nevertheless, the cross-blend of World of Warcraft and Unreal Tournament 2004 made for a surreal set for Baron to weave his magic. As always, if you enjoyed the machinima, download the high quality version! If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Last October, Machinima.com announced a Beowulf machinima contest where contestants could win free WoW for a year! InsomniAddict Productions came in second place, and did a pretty good job of recreating the official trailer for the movie. He recently released a comparison of the two next to each other and they are strikingly similar. We're not quite sure how Halowulf won, as it barely resembles the trailer. There also appears to be interlacing on the screen! Either way, second place for a first effort isn't a bad way to start![Via Warcraftmovies.com]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

(Update: Apparently Oblivious Films stopped doing them after the first episode and this was an in-house Machinima.com blunder. I stand by my criticism. Why hire Baron Soosdon, who didn't make this video, if they're not going to utilize him?)Those Oblivious Films boys are nothing but trouble. They get one episode of Inside World of Warcraft under their belt and Drewbie is running around with trannies, while Macheath is down and out on Skid Row. What will we do with them? While I do adore Drewbie and the comedy stylings of his partner, IWoW2 had some things that drove me up the wall. The aspect ratio seemed to jump, the bird noises were annoying, and a lot of the jokes felt forced. I'm not sure how frequently these were intended to be released, but the first episode came out three months ago. If they're only doing news reports quarterly, you'd think they'd have more to discuss and less to make toilet humor about ... Baron Soosdon never ceases to amaze me. Since he took on the job at Machinima.com, he's been steadily producing stellar machinimas that really raise the bar for the rest of the WoW machinimators. While there's still no plot to speak of (or is there?), Rage & Rapture is about as visually stunning as you can get!Baron is infamous for teaser shots of his upcoming projects on his blog, and this one is no exception. Set to a drum and bass track of the same name, by Quadrant and Cease, the movements are fast-paced and intense. It really makes you wonder how he does all of this with just Sony Vegas 6 and Particle Illusion! If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Last year, Douglas Gayeton made the headlines as Molotov Alva, the avatar that lived his life in Second Life. The series, of which only episode one was released so far, was sold to HBO for a whopping $200,000 USD. Now Cinemax is finally ready to air it, but first, they want to hold a machinima contest!Machinimators have from now until May 18th to enter. However, it looks like a popularity contest, as the community gets to vote for the top 10 finalists, with Cinemax choosing the top three. There are $3,500 USD in prizes being given away, though! For complete rules, check out the official contest page on Machinima.com.[Thanks to everyone who submitted this!]If you have machinima or movie suggestions from any MMO, please send them to machinima AT massively DOT com, along with any information you might have about them.

Now that Baron Soosdon has landed a comfy job as Community Manager at Machinima.com, he has time to make lots of movies -- or trailers, at least! His next project is a cross-game video, Kake Buk Island, using World of Warcraft and Unreal Tournament 2004. There is an extensive list of guest voice actors tied to the project, including Drewbie (Insert cameo joke here!), Olibith, Tuesday Smith, and Vilaeryn. Since this movie seems to have a plot, yet he doesn't describe it to us, let's make one up for him![Thanks, Baron!]If you have any suggestions for WoW Moviewatch, you can mail them to us at machinima AT wowinsider DOT com.Previously on Moviewatch ...

Jun Falkenstein recently blogged about a machinima documentary that she was in last summer. When I checked it out, I was surprised to see the all-star crew of machinimators that they assembled for it. They were asked to explain machinima as if the audience had never heard, or seen, of it.In the video, Philip Debevoise, the President of Machinima.com, discusses what machinima is all about. Frank Dellario, of the Electric Sheep Company-owned ILL Clan, gives us a peek at how his team works as well. I really enjoyed seeing the variety of platforms that this mini-documentary highlighted, and I hope to see more coverage like this in the future![Via Stone Falcon Productions]
