While we'll admit to occasionally considering what a mana potion might taste like, we've never even briefly pondered guzzling a pint of human blood. We just can't B positive about the target market for Mana Energy Potion maker Harco's new drink: Blood Energy Potion, complete with IV bag-shaped bottle.Okay, fine, we guess we could allow fans of shows like True Blood to buy a bottle as a novelty in much the same way that we slapped on a fake mustache and ventured into our local Hot Topic to buy a single Mana. But if you happen to be in the demographic where both of these products appeal to you, you may want to invest in Joystiq Beverages' new "Drinking Alone Energy Potion." Adorably, the container is shaped like a whiskey bottle, because it is, in fact, whiskey. Sorry, didn't mean to gO negative.

Right, stay with us now -- Harcos, creators of the gaming-themed "beverage" Mana Energy Potion, have formed a partnership with multiplayer game portal Ijji to bring the "beverage" to the latter company's anime-influenced MMO, Lunia. Yes, the game-themed Mana Energy Potion has disembarked from the physical plane, and returned to the virtual world, either adding another layer of originality to the "beverage," or stripping said originality away altogether. You may also be wondering why we keep putting quotes around the word "beverage." That's to symbolize the fact that if we were telling you this story in person, we'd be doing the finger-quote thing every time we said the word, as if to convey our less-than-favorable feelings towards the "beverage." Get it? No? How about this -- Mana Energy Potions taste like rotten prison wine. Is that clear enough for you?

  • Using treadmills to Race across Azeroth

The Wii Fit board was the first object to be linked to character run speed in WoW. Now, the folks at Mana Energy Potions have raised the ante -- they connected a pair of treadmills to their computers, and set about gauging just how possible it is to run like your character. They took a couple steps to simulate the run speed. They measured the land-speed of your average WoW character. Then, they set up a pair of treadmills to tap forward on their accounts -- everytime they moved a certain treadmill distance, their keyboard would pulse "W" to move forward. They dressed up in some silly costumes to make sure their event was as realistic as possible, or maybe just to make the pictures funnier. And then... they ran from Shadowglen to Darnassus. The results? The experience darn near killed 'em, apparantly. They tried a few other things -- drawing a sword while running, eating, and drinking. None of it went particularly well. And while they finished the run, the pair aren't looking forward to doing it again. The author describes it as "sheer brutality." Final result: your character in WoW is in much better shape than you are. I am shocked and amazed. Still, if I had the carpentry skills to build their rig, I think I might take my Warrior out for a jog to help get in shape.

Let's try not to read too much into this one. Here are the facts: two dweebs thought it would be a good idea to hook up treadmills to their PCs, don brightly-colored wigs and cardboard swords, and race their avatars across about a mile of virtual turf by jogging in place with only a modicum of coordination and zero athletic ability. The folks at Mana Energy Potion were complicit in the event, which failed to prove treadmill gaming is a good idea, but made great strides in proving just how low World of Warcraft addiction has brought certain members of our society. Video is after the break, we recommend you look away.[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Do you ever wish you could instantly regen by drinking a pot, just like you do in-game? A couple of WoW players and entrepreneurs have created a real life "potion" which has the effect of "+160 to mana" which is defined as "5 - 8 hours of smooth, jitter-free energy". This energy shot is called the Mana Energy Potion and is only available online, but will be available to adventurous gamers in the Los Angeles area soon.I haven't tried this stuff, but the spousal unit is anxious to order some with a fellow WoW player, so I did some reading. Here are some important details: Despite the large looking bottle depicted on the front page of the website (and to the right), the potion is only 40 ml which is less than 3 tablespoons. It is not regulated by the FDA because it is a supplement and not a drink, though the labeling is regulated. You have to be 12 years old or older to purchase. It is only available in the United States. It contains no sugar and is only 20 calories. It changes color. They cost $3.45 each, not including shipping and handling. It has a citrus flavor.
