Netflix may be ending shows left and right, but it's still willing to commit to some shows. The service has announced that it's releasing more episodes of Matt Groening's Disenchantment. It'll continue season one with new episodes in 2019, and has ordered more episodes for 2020 and 2021 -- the company is a bit vague as to how the series will continue once the first season is over. There's precious little to say about what those future episodes entail, but Groening joked that you could expect more instances of "cranked-up suspense, infuriating plot twists, and beloved characters getting knocked off."

Matt Groening's third animated series Disenchantment is expected to take a wry look at fantasy and medieval stereotypes when its first ten-episode season debuts on Netflix August 17th. A new teaser gives us a first (very brief) look at the show itself, which is drawn in Groening's signature style made famous in The Simpsons and Futurama.

Good news, everyone: after no small amount of hype, you can revisit the Futurama universe on your phone. Jam City's TinyCo has released Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow for free on both Android and iOS. It's clearly another not-so-subtle attempt to cash in on a much-loved TV series, but this title promises to do more than trade on a familiar name. It has a relatively rich story created by Matt Groening, David X. Cohen and a writing team from the show, and the original show cast is on tap for dialogue. However, the most intriguing part may be its extremely varied gameplay -- it's more ambitious than many console or PC titles in some ways, even if it's not necessarily as deep.

I have something important to tell you: There's video proof of the latest Futurama game in development. Executive producer and series creator Matt Groening is involved, as is executive producer David X. Cohen. Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow is "coming soon" to mobile platforms including Android and iOS. "[It] will blend simulation, combat, galactic exploration, and choose-your-own-adventure mechanics together to bring the escapades of the Planet Express crew to life," according to a press release. That's a tall order for a mobile game.

Ever since The Simpsons got an encyclopedic search engine through Frinkiac, many TV fans have been wondering one thing: where's the Futurama version? Relax, it's here. The creators of Frinkiac have launched Morbotron, a quote search tool that lets you dig through every season of Fry's adventures (complete with 861,414 screenshots) to create meme-worthy pictures and animated GIFs. You can find every moment that Professor Farnsworth has good news, Morbo proclaims doom for the human race, or Bender invites someone to bite his backside.

Netflix will spend a ton of money on original series to double its output this year, and some of that could be heading Matt Groening's way. Variety and Deadline are reporting that the creator of Simpsons and Futurama is in talks with the streaming network to create a new animated series. There's no word on what it might actually be, but the rumors say Netflix is considering signing up for two ten episode seasons -- and considering Groening's track record, we can see why. Matt Groening of The Simpsons fame worked on some offbeat illustrations for Apple in the late '80s. According to Linus Edwards of VintageZen, Groening has never publicly spoken about the ads, but images of the works are still floating around the internet. Edwards has compiled some of these unique ads and discusses their background. We've already seen Groening's college brochure several years ago, but the other one-page ads inspired by Groening's Life in Hell series are a bit more rare. Head over to VintageZen to check them out. Warning: this post contains spoilers about EA's The Simpsons Game, specifically about the end of the game. If you're trying to go into this game with no knowledge whatsoever, go ahead and skip this post. But since we don't think there's anyone out there on a Simpsons Game Media Blackout, and since both our sources published this right in the headline, we'll go ahead and reveal the BIG TIME SPOILER: Simpsons creator Matt Groening will be appearing in the game as the final boss."I'm a boss that you have to fight at the end of the game. It was really fun recording a million ways of dying, going 'UGGH, ARGGH, EUURGH!'"Between the preponderance of old and new Simpsons characters, and the video-game-parodying plot, The Simpsons Game actually sounds pretty great![Via GamesIndustry.biz]

It seems the upcoming The Simpsons video game from Electronic Arts is positively full of surprises. First and foremost, obviously, is that it actually looks pretty good (visually at least). Add to that the news that Matt Groening, creator of television series, will star as the game's final boss (or one of them at least). Groening has stated, according to gamesindustry.biz, "They did a send-up of videogames. It's a videogame about videogames; and I'm in the videogame. I'm a boss that you have to fight at the end of the game." Groening added that he has enjoyed recording his voice for the game. Eager Simpsons fans can get their hands on the game this fall.[Via Joystiq]

The Simpsons may have jumped the shark so long ago that the shark has long since died of natural causes, but that isn't stopping Matt Groening and Co. from creating the long awaited movie. Our close and oh so personal friend, Major Nelson, informs X360F that a trailer for the Simpsons movie is now available on Marketplace. It is available in every region except France, but, as groundskeeper Willy would say, the French are nothing but a bunch of "cheese eating surrender monkeys" anyway. (Seriously, I love France. Paris is a lovely place and it's actually given me some posts in the last few days. If you've got a problem with the phrase "cheese eating surrender monkeys," I suggest you take it up with Matt Groening.)
