Nintendo will host a Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament at the Nokia Theater at E3 this June in Los Angeles, the company announced via Twitter and an entertaining video featuring the comedic Mega 64 crew and Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. Additionally, players across the country will be able to play the next Smash Bros. game at Best Buy locations across the U.S. during E3, which is being held June 10 through June 12. Nintendo announced earlier this month that Super Smash Bros. will launch this summer on 3DS and will arrive on Wii U in the winter. The game's online modes will be split between "for fun" and "for glory" options and will include a "Smash Run" mode in lieu of the series' classic adventure mode. [Image: Nintendo]

  • PlayStation creator shares how it all happened in 'Kutaragi's Way'

Former Sony Computer Entertainment chairman and CEO Ken Kutaragi is often referred to as "Father of PlayStation." Kutaragi accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 14th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards last week for his contributions to video game development. To chronicle his "role as a young developer," Kutaragi teamed up with the funny folks at Mega 64 for the action-packed video "Kutaragi's Way." Kutaragi's Way includes elements of a typical day in the life of a game developer: Shootings, explosions and a disembodied emotion engine. Kutaragi also appears as the CEO of a certain competitor in the spoof on late 1980s action films. [Image: Mega64]

Behind every legendary warrior is some guy with a Wiimote, desperately trying to perform a shield bash. Unless, of course, live-action video game pantomime is "not [your] lifestyle."

Mega 64's classic bit of recreating video-game circumstances in real life has been pretty hilarious in the past, but reenacting Ghost Recon: Future Soldier would probably get them thrown in federal prison for the rest of their lives. So, instead, they played some co-op.

  • Modern Game Journalism: The Movie: The Trailer

The saddest part of Mega64's latest satirical jab at the gaming industry isn't the fact that Modern Game Journalism: The Movie will never be made into a real film, but rather just how startlingly accurate and true-to-life its depiction of review backlash is. Seriously, this may be a hilarious poke at the gaming industry for you at home, but it's the equivalent of an ultra-gritty war drama for us in the field. Once he saw this trailer, our managing editor Justin McElroy had what we can only assume was a post-traumatic episode, at which point he had to be horse-tranquilized. It, uhm, it was a bad scene.

  • Mega64 enters Limbo ... yes, it's as awkward as you imagine

The Mega64 boys bring Limbo to the masses in their own special way. People get scared, someone gets upset (naturally) and we get some chuckles from the abyss of awkwardness.

As Castlevania: Lords of Shadow approaches, Mega64 celebrates the series with a tribute to the crystal-tradingest, corpse-huntingest game in the series, Simon's Quest. The "villagers" are as incomprehensible in real life as in the game, but one "extra" still manages to steal the show.

For fans of Mega64 such as ourselves, it's almost a little surreal to report that, after beginning production during the Reagan administration, Mega64: Version 3 has finally been released on DVD. For $19, you'll get six new episodes of the show (the first in nearly four years), behind-the-scenes docs on each episode and a bevy of other special features. Among those special features is not, as far as we know, the episode of the Joystiq Podcast guest hosted by Mega64's Rocco Botte, an embarrassing oversight for both parties. But feel free to put the DVD in your computer, download the episode and pretend it is so.

  • Mega64 makes Marvel vs. Capcom 3 trailer

You might think you're pumped for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but Mega64 has been pumped for a whole decade. Just to prove it, the group has released a handmade trailer it created way back in its high school days. Okay, so the guys didn't really make a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 trailer in high school, but the one they made to look that way is pretty funny anyway. Also, seriously, Carmen Sandiego in a fighting game? How come no one has thought of that before? Check it out after the break.

You know, one day we hope to be as rich as those cats at Mega 64. The troupe's latest video -- an alarming look at one of the PSP Go's lesser-known features (courtesy of IGN) -- shows us just how stacked with loot these guys really are nowadays. We're not going to give the ending away, but let's just say the whole thing is a fine way to burn a neat stack of Benjamins. In the end, it's alright -- we bet they got paid a lot more than $300 for their work.Head past the break to check out the video. If you need us, we'll be eating some ramen and freezing to death in our apartment we can't afford to heat.

Okay, we'll fess up to it. This Mega64 video isn't exactly 360 related. However, we'll defend ourselves by saying that it is related to Street Fighter several iterations of which will soon be found on the Xbox 360. Beyond that, it's just really funny. Stupid, but funny. We'd love to say more, but that would honestly be spoiling it. So, enjoy. Oh, and if by some bizarre chance you don't get the reference, we've embedded an educational video after the break.

A skit that went great until some guy... Mega64 contributed a few new skits to the Game Developers Choice Awards last week to much applause and laughter, including a pretty poignant piece on Feel the Magic XX / XY (we're still waiting for that one to pop up on the internet). One in particular made the crowd scream more than anything else that night. The YouTube description reads thusly: "A skit that went great until some guy made it all awkward." We won't spoil the rest, so check out the video after the break.
