Remember Milo Yiannapolous? The self-described provocateur who now lacks a job at Breitbart, a book deal with Simon & Schuster and a Twitter account can add one more deletion to the list: an Instagram post. Unlike Alex Jones, Yiannapolous has maintained a presence on Facebook's properties, and The Daily Beast reported that today -- after a number of prominent Democratic politicians, public figures and media organizations received threatening packages -- he posted a message that included "Disgusting and sad (that they didn't go off, and the daily beast didn't get one)."

BuzzFeed News released a report today detailing efforts made by Steve Bannon, Milo Yiannopoulos and Breitbart News to damage Twitter. For about a year, they explored various ways to bring down the platform, tactics that included legal action, an anti-Twitter editorial campaign and attempts to push down the company's stock price.

Yesterday, Twitter announced that it would experiment with doubling the character limit in tweets, making the jump from 140 to 280 characters. And, as expected, it didn't take long for people on the internet to start critiquing the move, which is available only to a "small group" for now. Most of the feedback so far seems to be negative, and some are saying it's further evidence of Twitter's reluctance to confront larger issues. Instead of focusing on creating better tools for reporting harassment or acting faster to remove abusive content, the company is rolling out a feature that the majority of its users simply didn't ask for.

Former chief White House strategist Steve Bannon had designs to infiltrate Facebook's hiring practices leading up to last year's election, according to BuzzFeed News. The aim was to "flood the zone with candidates of all stripes who will report back to you/Milo [Yiannopolous]" about the job application process, emails from former congressional staffer Chris Gacek to Bannon, obtained by BuzzFeed, read. The idea was to discover if there was political bias in the hiring process.

Just a couple of months after announcing a book deal for Milo Yiannopolous -- an internet figure most well-known for being banned from Twitter due to harassment focused on actress Leslie Jones -- Simon & Shuster has apparently had second thoughts. In a statement, the publisher said that "After careful consideration @simonschuster and its @threshold_books have canceled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos."
