If HBO's Theranos documentary didn't satisfy your curiosity, you might be in luck. Deadline and Variety have learned that Hulu is ordering The Dropout, a miniseries about the rise and fall of Theranos and its founder Elizabeth Holmes. The show would be produced by and star Saturday Night Live veteran Kate McKinnon, and would have its roots in a similarly-titled podcast that was turned into a 20/20 documentary in March.

David Bowie released his final album, Blackstar, on his 69th birthday just two days before he passed away. The 16-episode Unbound series "takes the audience on a journey of evocative images inspired by the moods suggested in the album's music, lyrics and artwork," according to an InstaMiniSeries post. Rookie founder Tavi Gevinson and actress Patricia Clarkson star in Unbound, which debuts this Thursday at 8PM with new episodes following on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for a few weeks. For the most part, consumer drone videos are without narrative; beautiful sweeping views of the world. That's no bad thing, but 3D Robotics thinks we're missing the full potential that quadcopters have to offer. When it revealed its Solo "smart drone" earlier this year, it gave special attention to the camera-specific features -- such as a virtual cable cam, orbit mode and other cinematic options. In case you weren't convinced, 3D Robotics is driving the point home with an original sci-fi mini-series called Life after Gravity shot entirely with the Solo (and a GoPro, naturally). Each episode is accompanied by a blog post that talks you through the production, and details on how key shots were achieved. We're exclusively revealing the first episode right here.

Back in March, Fox confirmed that FBI agents Mulder and Scully would return to television, and now we know when. The network announced that The X-Files six-episode run will begin on January 24th at 10 PM ET, following the NFL's NFC Championship Game. There's sure to be a load of interested viewers already marking down the date, but Fox is looking to rope in a few more by debuting the miniseries right after a big playoff game. The show's premiere is a two-night event with the second episode following on Monday, January 25th at 8 PM ET in what will be the regular time slot. If you'll recall, show creator Chris Carter will handle director and executive producer duties while David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their roles as the Bureau's paranormal investigating duo. • The Anvil of Crom: Future perfect?

Poor Age of Conan. Funcom's sword, sorcery, and sandal epic is a perennial also-ran in Massively's semi-monthly Choose My Adventure voting. For the uninitiated, CMA is a series wherein one (un)lucky Massively scribe puts his or her gaming life in the hands of the readers for several weeks at a time. Poll participants can choose the game, and depending on various factors, the character race, class, vocation, goals, and a number of other gameplay-related guidelines. The writer then plays and reports on the experience, usually publicizing the character and inviting interested readers to play along. While the CMA series has visited some pretty diverse locales over the last couple of years, including Darkfall, Aion, Lord of the Rings Online, and Wizard101, Age of Conan always seems to come up short in the polls. That's OK though, because The Anvil of Crom is gearing up to take an occasional page out of Massively's Choose My Adventure book. Flip past the cut to find out how.

  • Felicia Day to star in 'Dragon Age: Redemption' web series

Felicia Day, star of online comedy show The Guild, is writing and starring in a six-episode web series based on BioWare's ye olde fantasy franchise, Dragon Age. Set to debut later this year, the "Dragon Age: Redemption" plot follows Tallis, an elvish assassin in search of a rogue mage -- presumably one that's run afoul of Ferelden's controlling religious group, the Chantry. "Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor," Day says of her character. "I wanted to bring a modern sensibility to a fantasy character in a fantasy world." According to USA Today, the premeditated LARP-ing was filmed near Los Angeles in January, with Peter Winther (co-producer on Godzilla and The Patriot) as director and John Bartley, who worked on Wrong Turn and Lost, as cinematographer. The show is also co-produced by Felicia Day, who says that her appreciation of gaming and of the Dragon Age franchise has empowered her efforts. "I put every single effort into making this something that gamers will be proud of. Even though we were constrained a lot as a Web series, none of the people who were involved took that as a constraint. They took that as a challenge." Dragon Age isn't the only game to receive a promotional web series in recent memory -- the excellent "Bright Falls" series led into 2010's Alan Wake, and the upcoming Mortal Kombat reboot will be accompanied by a series of high-profile character vignettes later this year.

Trion Worlds' Rift: Planes of Telara publicity campaign is picking up a head of steam, and today marks an auspicious occasion for Rift fans who dig comic books as much as they do MMORPGs. In cooperation with noted comic publisher WildStorm, Trion has taken the wraps off another issue of the ongoing Telara Chronicles, a miniseries in four parts that tells the tale of a plane-touched warrior named Asha Catari. Today's second issue finds Asha leading a band of Ascended warriors deep behind enemy lines to retrieve a mysterious and ancient artifact that may play a large role in Telara's future. The series is authored by Ricardo Sanchez and inked by Pop Mhan, with covers by Drew Johnson and Lizzy John. You can find a copy of the Telara Chronicles at your local comic shop.

Jonesing for more stories set in the grim Dragon Age universe, but don't have the patience to wait for the game's next expansion? Machinima.com recently produced a canonical miniseries set in the days following Origins' ending, and tells the story of Kristoff, another Gray Warden which players encounter in the Awakenings DLC. Considering the miniseries is titled "Warden's Fall," we seriously doubt things are going to turn out all roses and sunshine for him. The first episode of the series went live earlier today, and can be found posted after the jump. If you're a fan of the game, it's well worth seven minutes of your time.

Since last week's release of the first two episodes of "Bright Falls," the six-part prequel to Alan Wake, we've been feverishly wondering how a live action video game tie-in could be so ... non-abysmal. To find the cause of this phenomenon, we went straight to the source: the series' co-writer and director, Phillip Van. Check out our interview with Van just past the jump to learn about the thematic inspirations and environmental tribulations that went into the creation of "Bright Falls."
