Everyone knows that the internet was created for two things. One is Lolcats, and the other is... not what your dirty mind was assuming. No, in fact, the second grand purpose for the series of tubes is to allow the mass dissemination of bazillions of those black-bordered (de)motivational posters. To that end, gPotato is conscripting its Allods Online fanbase to add some more to the mix. A new Allods contest requires players of the F2P fantasy title to snap an in-game screenshot (sans the UI, of course) and paste the image into a black box using a graphics editor. Add a bit of humorous white text and you've got yourself an entry that could win you a large incense kit, a chest of costumes, a fashionista's trunk, five stamina elixirs, and five luck elixirs. Entries are due by Friday, March 4th, and you can submit them -- as well as learn more about the contest -- via the official Allods forums.

  • Yoshi to Mario: 'I thought we were friends'

It was a heartbreaking moment, the first time we were ever forced to jump off Yoshi's back to save our own selfish skin in Super Mario World. We reached for him over the edge of the platform, watching as he fell further and further away until he was nothing more than a tiny green dot in the distance. In hysterics, we yelled out to him, Last-of-the-Mohicans style, "I will find you!"After the thousandth time we nonchalantly discarded Yoshi, though, leaving an imprint of our boot on his dinosaur nose as we leaped to higher ground, we'd been too desensitized by his many sacrifices to regret any one particular death. Sometimes, we even celebrated it: "That's what you get, you little jerk. That's what you get for making us chase you around and lose our feather."But this faux motivational poster, spotted at Aeropause, calls our attention back to the cruelty and sadness of the technique. Seeing those teary eyes and outstretched arms is killing us inside. It's all made worse by Mario's refusal to even turn around and acknowledge his friend's ill-fated demise. The Koopa Paratroopa flying away in the background is clearly upset with the whole scene. We wouldn't be surprised if the event haunted him for the rest of his life, eventually leading him to alcohol and drug abuse.[Via Aeropause]

Now that you've seen them in action, we want to give one reader their very own Wii Sports Pack! Conduct your own playtests. Sneak up on friends with the bat for a little nefarious fun. Break them out during parties and take bets on who shatters the ceiling fan lights. The fun never stops! It's not gonna be as easy as just waltzing in here and asking for them, however. You're going to need to inspire us into letting go of the goods. We're not feeling too motivated here, so what we need is for you to make a (de)motivational poster inspired by Brando's Wii Sports Pack. The tools you need are tucked away after the jump.

Retro Blast recently ran a contest to make gaming version of those ever-so-popular motivational posters. They have yet to decide on a winner, so now is the perfect time to check out the entire gallery of nearly 360 entries and decide for yourself the rightful heir to the champion's throne. Beyond Challenge (pictured), we'd opt for either Loyalty or @#!$@!. Our only regret is that these image files have small resolutions; there are more than a few we wouldn't mind hanging on a wall.
