  • How would you change Motorola's Devour?

Motorola's Devour has somehow managed to get a little lost in the mix, primarily due to the wealth of Android options on America's two main CDMA carriers right now. The design is certainly appealing, particularly to those still averse to virtual keyboards, but it's the Blur user interface that really sets this apart from the Droid. Of course, we didn't exactly find a whole lot to love about the total package (compared to the other Android options, anyway), but that's not to say there's nothing to discuss. On the contrary, actually. Did you plop down a crisp Benjamin to get yourself a Devour? Are you still happy with the decision? How's Blur been treating you? Would you retool any of the hardware / software aspects? Get honest down in comments below, and yes, feel free to consider this the group therapy you've thus far refused to pay good money for.

  • Skype mobile heading to Verizon smartphones on March 25th

We knew it was coming, and now we have a concrete date. Starting this Thursday, March 25th, Verizon Wireless customers with one of nine select smartphones (Motorola Droid and Devour, HTC Droid Eris, various BlackBerrys) and data plan will be able to use Skype over the 3G network. As we heard before, Skype-to-Skype calls will not affect your VZW minutes, and now you've got the option to use the app for cheaper international dialing using the mobile app. Full list of compatible devices after the break, a list we're hoping gets expanded in the not-so-distant future.

While Motorola's vanilla-Android Droid has become the most recognizable Android device on the market -- thanks in part to a bombastic ad campaign -- Motorola's primary focus has been on its own custom Blur UI. At least, if quantity of devices are any indication. Hitting Verizon just as the Blur-powered Backflip heads to AT&T, the new Motorola Devour is an odd cross section of the "consumery" Backflip and Cliq, and the high-end Droid slider. We've been playing with the phone for a week or so (you can find our initial hands-on, video walkthrough and unboxing here), so follow us after the break as we walk through the triumphs and tragedy that is this device. %Gallery-86221%

We've got Motorola's latest Blur handset in hand, Devour-ing ill-advised puns like it's a full time job. You can check out this aluminum slider in all its consumer-friendly glory in the gallery below, see it sized up against big brother Droid right below that, and there are some initial impressions and a video walkthrough after the break. %Gallery-86221% %Gallery-86230%

  • Motorola Devours seven minutes of your life with a phone demo (video)

We're only a few breathless days away from the Devour hitting some retail locations ahead of nationwide US availability in March, so what better way to fill that gap than with an official teaser video? Moto's Rick Osterloh is our tour guide in a seven minute hands-on demo of the device, which takes us through the major attractions on offer. He firstly calls out the Qualcomm CPU inside and points to the phone's responsiveness, which is (quite naturally) followed by a couple of instances of perceptible lag between his input and the phone's reaction. All the same, it does look like a sprightly little machine, and the inclusion of Blur, Google Maps Navigation with turn-by-turn voice instructions, and Moto Phone Portal makes for a compelling software package. Head past the break to see them in action and to catch another eyeful of the hardware as well. [Thanks, Zach A.]

  • Motorola Devour in the wild once again

We've already seen the Motorola Devour in the wild once, but with the official Verizon launch right around the corner and pre-sales underway, it looks like at least one more unit has made it out into the world. Great -- but we'd like a video of this thing and its mid-range processor running Flash, please. [Thanks, Zach]

  • Motorola Devour to sell for $150 at Best Buy?

You've just got to love the slow trickle of information about your next smartphone, right? Just days after hearing that Best Buy would gladly accept your pre-order on Motorola's Devour (without actually telling you the final price, comically enough), this leaked flyer has flown into our inbox to clear up the mystery. Unless we've got some seriously awesome Photoshop work going on here, it seems as if the Flash supporting handset will sell for $149.99 on a 2-year Verizon contract, and of course, that's sans mail-in rebate if you snag one from the Big Yellow Tag. Not bad given the specs, wouldn't you say? Update: Looks like a case (shown after the break) has popped up as well. Thanks, H.R.! [Thanks, Anonymous]

  • Best Buy kicks off Motorola Devour pre-sale, no rebate required

You'll still have to wait until February 25th to actually get your hands on one, but those not wanting to take any chances on missing out on the Motorola Devour can now head down to their local Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile store and reserve one starting today. The only catch is that you'll have to buy a $50 Best Buy gift card to hold your spot for the phone, but the good news is that you won't have to deal with any of those pesky mail-in rebates -- just a simple instant discount at the check-out. Curiously though, while Best Buy will gladly sell you a $50 gift card, it's still not saying exactly much the phone itself will actually cost -- here''s hoping we hear more about that before you actually wind up in the check-out line.

  • Motorola Devour launching somewhere on February 25th, everywhere on March 15th

Eager to get your mitts on the first Motoblur-enabled phone to land on Verizon? Sorry bronco, it ain't happening today. Or tomorrow. Or next week. According to the leaked flyer above, however, the impatient among us should be able to secure a Devour on the 25th of this month. After it filters out through those "indirect channels," the phone will make its way into all VZW channels on March 15th, though it's still anyone's guess as to a price. Speaking of guesses -- got any insight you'd like to share in comments?

  • Motorola Devour spotted in the wild, sized up against a Nexus One

While just recently made official, there have been plenty of Motorola Devour leaks over the years (er, months) to keep us occupied. This latest one has the aluminum colored phone sized up in bokeh-filled and yet surprisingly small, compressed and grainy shots -- as if Mr. Blurrycam is holding up a nice, low aperture DSLR lens to his RAZR's sensor. Oh well, it's the thought that counts. What's particularly helpful here is this comparison shot with the Nexus One, which shows the Devour to be a good bit larger, despite its significantly smaller screen size. Size isn't everything, of course. [Thanks, Phillip L.]

  • Motorola Devour officially coming to Verizon next month

    by

And just like that, it's official. Verizon Wireless has today announced that Motorola's scrumptiously named Devour will be heading to its network next month, with it being the first VZW phone to feature Motoblur. Not that we're seeing any surprises here, but a quick specification run down draws our attention to a 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, a touch-sensitive navigation pad, a pre-installed 8GB microSD card and Bluetooth support. Unfortunately, there's no apparent mention of multitouch -- and we wouldn't expect it out of the box, since the Devour runs Android 1.6 -- but we're crossing our fingers (and toes, for that matter) for Google to sling that delightful Nexus One update to the rest of its high-powered Android phones in the very near future. There's nary a mention of an asking price, but we'll be sure to keep an eye out as launch day approaches. %Gallery-84588%
