Christine Fisher09.21.2020The first music video shot on Snap Spectacles 3 is a rumination on love
Over the years, we've seen music videos and movies shot on iPhones, GoPros, and even in a few disappointing cases, Google Glass. Long story short, if a gadget has a camera, people will use it to make art, and that streak continues today with a new music video from R&B artist Bosco that was shot entirely on Snap’s Spectacles 3. As you might expect, the video -- made to accompany Bosco's single "4th of July" -- is packed to the gills with Snapchat's augmented reality lenses.

Jon Fingas06.22.2020Tesla's Cybertruck found its way into a Travis Scott music video
Tesla likes to brag about racking up sales without a lick of advertising, but it's apparently not averse to some product placement. Rapper Travis Scott has shared the video for "Gang Gang," and the car-centric video includes extensive, conspicuous shots of Scott and crew performing around (and occasionally using) both the Cybertruck and the Cyberquad electric ATV. There's even a Boring Company Not-A-Flamethrower thrown in for good measure -- the supercars in the rest of the clip are practically window dressing in comparison.

Christine Fisher12.19.2019The band X Ambassadors created a music video for the visually impaired
For people who are blind or visually impaired, listening to a music video is often just like listening to the track. The band X Ambassadors wants to change that. In its first 24 hours, the music video for "Kill This Love" -- the latest single by K-pop quartet Blackpink -- reached 56.7 million YouTube views. It then went on to earn 100 million views in less than three days. That's the fastest any music video has reached either milestone, and it makes "Kill This Love" the biggest music video debut in YouTube history -- unseating Ariana Grande's "Thank You, Next," which had 55.4 million views in its first 24 hours.
Christine Fisher04.08.2019The Weeknd's new music video is the FPS you never wanted to play
Canadian music artist The Weeknd dropped a music video today for his just-released single False Alarm, and it's a doozy -- a bank heist gone bloody from a gun-toting robber's first-person perspective. If you love a bleak FPS experience of unwilling hostages, shot cops and dead buddies backed by lyrics about hollow modern romance, this is the vid for you.
David Lumb10.13.2016Microsoft wrote an OK Go music video to DNA
OK Go's song "This Too Shall Pass" is merely a serviceable song with an interesting video that features contraptions inspired by Rube Goldberg. Microsoft and the University of Washington have deemed it important enough to write it to the largest DNA storage trove created to date.
Brittany Vincent07.07.2016HTC just started a rap battle with Apple and Samsung
Someone, somewhere thought it was a good idea for HTC to make its own hip hop music video. Whoever approved the project might be regretting that decision right now, but never mind -- at least we get a hilariously cringeworthy tune to stick on repeat for the rest of the day. If you're curious, the man dissing the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5 in equal measure is Greg Carr (aka "Doc G") of the musical group P.M. Dawn. He's actually the cousin of Attrell Cordes, or Prince Be, who used to lead the hip hop act during their heyday in the '80s and '90s. Oh, and if you're really interested in how this all came together, HTC has even put up an interview with the rapper himself. Now, just head past the break, sit back and enjoy.

Holograms are generally reserved for dead artists and sci-fi depictions of AI, but Paul McCartney has no use for society's limited definitions of advanced technology. The music video for McCartney's Destiny song features him as a hologram, roaming the same lands as our Guardians.
Jessica Conditt12.09.2014Indie music video uses fourteen different Apple devices in cleverly choreographed animation
Ukrainian indie band Brunettes Shoot Blondes created a clever music video that uses fourteen different Apple screens to tell the story of their latest song, Knock Knock. Featured as a Vimeo staff pick, the video uses MacBooks, iPhones, iPads and even an iPod nano. Each device used in the production is playing a different animated segment that is synchronized in real time across all the devices. You have to watch the video to appreciate the amazing choreography needed to produce the two-and-a-half minute clip. The idea for the video was developed by the band itself, while the animation was done by SYT-X. The catchy title track, Knock Knock, that was showcased in the video is available in iTunes for 99-cents. [Via Laughing Squid]
