    Darren Aronofsky's three-part virtual reality series Spheres -- bought for a seven-figure sum at Sundance earlier this year -- will make its world premiere at the upcoming Venice Film Festival. Adding to its sci-fi credentials is the announcement that Millie Bobby Brown, aka Eleven from Netflix series Stranger Things, will be lending her voice to the final instalment of the trilogy, Spheres: Chorus of the Cosmos.

    My Memory of Us was teased early last year, a heartfelt game with touching animation, based on real events that occurred during the Second World War. Now its creator, Juggler Games, has revealed an expanded trailer and announced that the game will feature narration from an appropriately revered individual: Patrick Stewart. Juggler Games CEO Mikołaj Pawłowski notes that Stewart's "talent and skill provides the right mixture of gravitas and hope, and his performance resonates perfectly with [the] game."

    When Dragon's Crown launches on August 6, some DLC will let you swap out the stock narration for a mouthpiece centered on one of the game's classes: Amazon, Dwarf, Elf, Fighter, Sorceress, and Wizard. The DLC will be a free download at first and cost $1.99 after the first month. Dragon's Crown is a side-scrolling action game that sports multiplayer elements and a controversial art style. It's currently in development at Vanillaware for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

    SonicPics is an intriguing US $2.99 app that allows you to make a slide presentation and then narrate it, all on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. That's quite a lot of functionality that usually takes a lot more hardware. Take your photos off your camera roll and select them inside SonicPics. Get them in the order you want. Then hit the record button and start narrating. You swipe to the next picture to control the sync. You can swap images around, but then you have to re-do the narration. When you are satisfied, the presentation needs to be rendered, and then it can be emailed, saved to your camera roll, or uploaded to YouTube. The resulting file can run up to 60 minutes duration, if you have the space on your device. You can also select the audio quality. Even the lowest-quality option sounded pretty good. I can see lots of uses for this app, in real estate, education, creating illustrated audio books, and even creating simple presentations when you are on the road. With all my positive comments, there are still some negatives. There is no way to have a music background instead of narration. Even better would be to have narration plus a background track. Although you can label each image as you prepare your presentation, those labels don't make it into the finished video. There is no help or FAQ with the app. You have to be pretty inquisitive to figure out you have to flip each image to the next one while recording. A simple on-screen prompt would fix that. If you are doing a long narration and make a mistake, you have to start over again. That is going to be frustrating. The developer tells me some of those changes are coming, and he agrees about the lack of help (which is easy to fix). I still like this app very much. It is reasonably priced, and the issues I've mentioned are hardly insurmountable for an update. I can see using this on vacation and putting together a quick slide show for friends and family back home. This app is a great idea, and if it continues to evolve it is going to be awesome instead of just very good. %Gallery-161735% #next_pages_container { width: 5px; hight: 5px; position: absolute; top: -100px; left: -100px; z-index: 2147483647 !important; }

    We recently showed you a video of Zachary Quinto -- Spock Reloaded, if you will -- doing voice work for Star Trek Online. Quinto won't be reprising his role as the famous Vulcan though, and will instead guide new players through the tutorial as an Emergency Medical Hologram. Now we've come across footage of Leonard Nimoy lending his voice as well for Cryptic's massively multiplayer take on the Star Trek IP. He'll be providing the narration that brings players up to date with events in Star Trek Online's setting. Stick with us past the jump for footage of Leonard Nimoy (and clips from the game) in a behind-the-scenes video for Star Trek Online.

    Ishmael is a basic application for easily creating voice-over narration for still photos and images, and then exporting your final product as a QuickTime video. So if you need to whip up a quick presentation, or want to make up a little story about a recent trip this is the app for you.Ishmael supports images from iPhoto albums or PDF files as its source, which can then be dubbed over and encoded as an actual QuickTime file. You can then take that video output and include it in an iMovie or Final Cut Pro project, or even export it back to iPhoto. Ishmael supports most Core Audio-compatible input devices, and includes multiple video encoding formats, and it even features Apple Remote support. Note, however, that it requires iPhoto 6.0, QuickTime 7.0, and OS X 10.4. Give the free demo a go and it will cost you $30 for the full package. Unfortunately, I'm running 10.3.9 (shock!), so I can't give this guy a test spin, but there are video samples linked on the official Ishamel website.
