Major Nelson brings us word of 3 pieces of downloadable content for NBA Street Homecourt available on Xbox Live Marketplace. Fortunately for you, 33.333% of it is free of charge. The pro bono publico piece is "Melo's Cloverdale", and for 300 Microsoft Points a piece you can get the new "Perkins Park" court, or the "Street Legends & Brand Jordan Apparel" character/outfit pack. Of the premium content, do either of these suit your fancy, or are you ... content?

  • Video: NBA Street Homecourt 360 Vs. PS3

Sure, storytelling is important to game development, but let's face it, many of us are graphics whores. The draw of a beautifully rendered game is undeniable. A graphically immersive game will cause many to overlook faults that would otherwise stand out (see Gears of War). As such, graphical ability is a strong bullet point for almost any console. Case in point, we found a comparison video of NBA Street Homecourt for the Xbox 360 and PS3. First thing's first, no matter what platform it's on, Homecourt is a nice looking game. Period. It looks great. That being said, we'd say the 360 version is actually a little sharper. If we had to put our finger on it, we'd say the 360 version looks just a little bit "glossier." Granted, we have no way of knowing what sort of setup GameTrailers used to make the video, but we'd have to give the slight edge to the 360 (as did Game Informer).Hit the "read" link to watch the video (it's HD, so it'll take a while to buffer) and then come back and tell us what you think. Do graphics even matter? Given the feature disparity between the two consoles (rumble, Xbox Live, etc.) would you pick one over the other just because it looked better?

Let's get one thing out of the way: we're not sports gamers (at least not this blogger). Sports fanatics may want to take that into consideration when reading this. So, we downloaded the NBA Street Homecourt demo and played a few pickup games. All in all, Homecourt seems like a very decent title. Each baller has a plethora of tricks to shake opponents and go in for positively monstrous dunks. The tricks are activated using one button. Different tricks are activated depending on how long you hold the button or if you're holding a modifier button. In essence, it felt a lot like pulling off tricks in a Tony Hawk title. You also get rewarded for linking lots of tricks in a row (again, like Tony Hawk). The tricks, though, are secondary to the dunks. If you've seen the dunk video we posted earlier, you'll know what we're talking about. Dunks in Homecourt are insane. On top of the already huge dunks, players can score double dunks if they time things right -- and yes, a double dunk is worth double points. The game is fast and furious, and you can lose the demo pretty quickly if you don't pay attention. Controlling the game was a little confusing at times, especially given the variety of tricks and maneuvers available, but we imagine that this would be overcome with practice. Overall, we liked the demo and look forward to trying out the real thing.Did you like the demo? Did you hate it? Leave a comment and tell us what you think.

Basketball fans rejoice! The NBA Street Homecourt demo is now available for Xbox Live Gold members. We're not sure what happened to the Def Jam: Icon demo that was supposed to hit Marketplace yesterday, but Homecourt is definitely welcome. Honestly, we've been waiting to try this game ever since we saw videos of the game's insane double dunks. Here's hoping the game lives up to our expectations. We'll post our impressions later today.Has anyone managed to grab this already? Tell us what you think.[Thanks, Rob]

Planet Xbox 360 is reporting that a demo of NBA Street Homecourt is on its way to Xbox Live Marketplace. Homecourt is expected to arrive in March with the demo arriving in February. We haven't seen a lot of NBA Street Homecourt, but what we have seen looks very promising. Nice player models, insane dunks, and plenty of attitude, Homecourt looks to be shaping up nicely. Here's hoping that EA can deliver NBA Jam for a new generation.Anyone else out there waiting for this?

NBA Street Homecourt pits your choice of more than 100 NBA stars -- and a half-dozen WNBA leaders -- against each other in three-on-three street games. The title references the players' favorite public courts, where the acrobatic games are set. We've seen these kinds of basketball titles before -- including the previous three NBA Street games -- but Homecourt uses a redesigned control scheme to set itself apart from previous versions.Instead of memorizing one basketball trick per button -- or worse, a dozen tricks based on combinations of buttons -- the new controls map several moves to a single button. Homecourt reads the way you push a button, translating several kinds of presses into different tricks. I was confused at first, but after recently playing the title, I began to look forward to this style of game.

Our compatriots at Gamertag Radio recently went to the NBA Street Community Day sponsored by EA, and they've put up a barrage of new content to cover it. Check out the video above for a developer rundown of the new dunks in NBA Street Homecourt (including some monster dunks that are worth double points). You can check out another video at GTR's site. GTR also has two new audio sessions available, one covering the day's events, and another with the developers themselves. We've said it before, sports game aren't for everyone, but this one gives us fond flashbacks of NBA Jam. Watch the video above, listen to the audio, and surround yourself in NBA goodness.

DeaconBlade 360 let us know about some exclusive shots of NBA Street Homecourt that he snagged. Unfotunately, the shots only tell us two things. One, well, it's basketball. Two, it's damned pretty. Obviously, we don't know how schmoove it looks in motion, but the shots are definitely promising, showing off plenty of detail in both the characters and the backgrounds. Here's hoping EA releases some video to go with the shots. Do we have any NBA Street fans out there? What would you like to see in Homecourt?

The gripping story of ophidiophobia in the sky has propelled Snakes on a Plane star Kenan Thompson into the spotlight. Throughout most of the film, he's seen playing the PSP. But what game has him so engrossed? An interview at Yahoo reveals all: "I was playing NBA Street Showdown on the PSP during filming. I was playing it a whole lot and I was getting really good at it." The PSP was not included in Kenan's contract: "I had to give it back after we finished filming, but I had my own, so I wasn't tripping." Kenan thinks the PSP's one of the best handhelds around, due to its multiple capabilities: "You put it in your car and it turns into an MP3 player. It's crazy." Of course, more amazing than the PSP being in Snakes on a Plane is knowing that Samuel L. Jackson plays the system as well: "Sam Jackson loves video games. I think I might have caught him playing my PSP a couple of times on set. He's a cool dude like that." Awesome!Read the rest of the interview to find out more on a potential sequel to the movie (Lizards on the Backs of Llamas on a Boat) and what he thinks about the DS and the Brain Age games ("I felt stupid the first time I played it").

Just days after pulling the plug on the NBA Street V3 servers, EA has announced that the streetball-inspired franchise will be crossing over onto next-gen platforms in spring 2007. The next edition of NBA Street has been confirmed for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 -- but not Wii.The game will still focus on over-the-top, 3-on-3 b-ball, but now includes a new twist, described by EA as, "a hyper-real world that merges legendary courts with the hometown courts of your favorite NBA stars into one seamless city of streetball moments. Earn a name for yourself and garner respect as you progress along your hometown journey and become a legend."Peep the teaser trailer after the break.
