It's nothing new, it's always optional and Colin did a wonderful job discussing it. I don't have a problem with microtransactions, and haven't since I began actually learning how they affected online services and games. When Cryptic's games make more money, Atari is happier. When Atari is happier, Cryptic gets to hire more people and spend more time creating the things we love to play: MMOs.

In an interview with G4TV.com, Jack Emmert was more than willing to say that if Champions Online should succeed, then a villain counterpart -- possibly Nemesis Online -- would certainly be in the cards. Well, you can considering us shocked. It's almost as though were one product successful, additional but slightly different products would be pursued. All joking aside, we're happy to hear it's something that Cryptic is considering. And so long as they please fans with Champions Online we really see no reason for them not to create another game for supervillains. One thing Emmert was clear on were his design intents this time around, saying, "If I were to do it over again, I would create a very different type of gameplay for villain worlds." in relation to his first swing at villainy with City of Villains.

Here's a fun logic puzzle for those of you who are about to suffer the slings and arrows of SAT/ACT testing: City of Heroes is to City of Villains as Champions Online is to -- well, we don't know what it would be called, but considering Champions allows you to create your heroes' own personal arch-villain, its potential existence just makes sense, doesn't it?That was the question posited to Cryptic's Jack Emmert by G4 in a recent interview, which Emmert responded to by saying "Nemesis Online" was a definite possibility, provided that "Champions is successful and people want that." With the game still a few months out, we know we're putting the cart before the horse by asking, but hey -- do you people want that?
