Previously Vita-exclusive music festival creation simulator BigFest will now appear on both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, according to a new PlayStation.blog entry. Though superficially a management sim requiring players to oversee to the operations of an increasingly large music festival, the real draw of BigFest lies in discovering new bands. Sony has signed an agreement with the Jamendo music community to use its massive catalogue of unsigned indie artists in the game, ensuring that the acts playing on your virtual stage are all actual, real-world musicians. Unfortunately, developer On The Metal offers no word on how the headliners you choose might impact the game, beyond saying that "[d]iscovering top talent and selecting the best headliners are just a couple of the important responsibilities players will manage to get the all-important festival 'vibe' up." Sony notes that while the PlayStation 3 and Vita games will be largely similar, the PlayStation 4 version of BigFest will feature graphics at 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second. No release date has yet be revealed for any version of BigFest. [Image: Sony]

During its Gamescom press event yesterday, Sony announced the upcoming release of BigFest, a music festival simulation game for the PlayStation Vita. Created by Sheffield-based independent developer On The Metal, BigFest is a Theme Park-like management sim that challenges players to design and promote an outdoor music festival. Player duties include venue arrangement, event promotion, and contract negotiation with real-world unsigned artists. The trailer above showcases a number of featured acts, all of which lend their music to BigFest's soundtrack and browsable online song catalog.
