Future Netflix original shows rated TV-14 or lower and movies rated PG-13 or below will no longer include depictions of smoking or e-cigarette use, except in cases of historical or factual accuracy. The service will also avoid showing smoking or e-cigarette use in more adult-orientated projects "unless it's essential to the creative vision of the artist or because it's character-defining (historically or culturally important)," it told Variety.

Netflix is known for taking bets on experimental shows and ambitious costume dramas set in far-flung locations. But the golden days of the company's cavalier spending on original content may be coming to a close as it becomes more careful with finances, reports The Information. The company is expected to be more budget-conscious with future productions as it faces competition from upcoming streaming services by Disney, NBC Universal, Apple and WarnerMedia.

The ladies of Litchfield Penitentiary are getting one last run: Netflix has released a trailer for the seventh and final season of Orange is the New Black. The show's final episodes wrap up the storylines of the inmates we've grown to love, but with one big twist. The show's lead character of Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) is finally free. Rather than eliminating the show's main source of conflict, Piper's freedom introduces its own set of problems. Fans watch the main character, now an ex-felon, struggle to adjust in the upper middle-class New York world she left behind.

There's a good chance you know what's coming to Netflix in July: Stranger Things 3. It's arguably the most anticipated release of the summer, and you won't have to wait much longer -- it arrives on July 4th. Stranger Things 3 certainly isn't all we have to look forward to. This month, Netflix will release the seventh and final season of Orange is the New Black, the recently announced fourth season of Queer Eye and another season of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

House of Cards is often recognized as Netflix's flagship original, but there's another award-winning show that's returning for a second season: Orange Is The New Black. Piper Chapman's prison-based predicament is back for another 13-episode sentence after we last saw her rearranging the face of another inmate. We already know that Laura Prepon won't return as a regular on the show, but Danielle Brooks (Taystee) and Taryn Manning (Pennsatucky) will, suggesting that our main protagonist showed some restraint in the first season's finale. Orange is now Netflix's most-viewed show (although the company doesn't share numbers) and chances are it will enjoy even more success this time around. The streaming giant has already ordered a third season, so go and binge-watch safe in the knowledge that it'll almost certainly return next year.

This week we're finally ready to kick off the championship round of playoffs in both the NBA and NHL. Meanwhile, Netflix has loaded up its streaming library with a new season of Orange is the New Black, plus the latest seasons of Luther and Sherlock are arriving this week. 50 Cent's new TV show Power debuts on Starz Sunday night (hint: it's not about baseball), and we'll say goodbye to this season of Cosmos, Turn and Veep Sunday night. A different Breaking Bad Blu-ray boxed set hits shelves this week without the collector's edition casing, along with Robocop and Workaholics. Check after the break for a list of what's new this week plus a few trailers, and drop a note in the comments if you see any highlights we've missed.

  • Breaking Bad in 4K coming to Netflix in June

Curious to watch all of the grisly deaths in Breaking Bad, but in a higher resolution? You've only got a month or so to wait, as Netflix has confirmed that it'll begin streaming the show in 4K and Dolby 5.1 at some point in June. The company also affirmed its commitment to screening all of its original shows in 4K, and is also currently experimenting with DVD-style extras. At present, tests are being carried out on Behind the Bars, a series of branching interviews with the cast of Orange is the New Black which will could in and out of the episodes when required. That said, the feature may not be ready for our second trip to federal prison, which begins on June 6th.

  • Orange is the New Black trailer promises a 'next level crazy' season two

House of Cards is probably Netflix's most-discussed original series, but fans of Orange is the New Black would argue it matches Frank Underwood & Co. in both deviousness and quality. As usual, the entire second season will premiere at once on June 6th, and it should be an even wilder ride than the first time around, as shown in this trailer (embedded after the break). The gang is back, including Piper, her ex Alex Vause played by Laura Prepon, Crazy Eyes, Pennsatucky and all the rest. Netflix isn't the only service or channel investing in original content to set itself apart, but over the last year or so it's been one of the most consistently successful, and with new additions like Sense8 and Marco Polo coming soon, those trying to catch up will face a tough job in prying any of its 30 million+ customers loose.

Last week I wrote about a few of the revamped Federation-Klingon war missions in Star Trek Online's upcoming Season 8.5. This week a few more notable changes and teasers were released, including the news that Star Trek Online has a new Executive Producer and a Star Trek actor's voice will be featured in during the upcoming anniversary event! Pardon me sir, but haven't we met before? The game's new (and returning) EP, Stephen D'Angelo, posted a blog last week announcing his return to the command chair, along with the news that former EP, Daniel Stahl, has been reassigned to another top-secret project. Many of us had already heard about the existence of another game in development at Cryptic, so it's not so much of a surprise to hear of personnel shifts in this regard.
