Are you a businessperson in search of a portable computing device? Then Samsung claims to have a few new options designed with just you in mind in the form of its new P80 Premium and P30 Essential series laptops, and NB30 Pro netbook. On the laptop side of things, the P80 and P30 series are each available in 14-inch and 15-inch versions, with the P80 models packing a Core i5 processor, 320GB hard drive and a docking connector, while the P30 models dial things back to a Core i3 and a 250GB hard drive. As you might expect, the NB30 Pro (pictured above) is simply a slightly updated version of Samsung's regular NB30 netbook, with it boasting an Atom N450 processor, a 160GB hard drive, up to 2GB of RAM, and Windows 7 Professional for an OS. Look for it to run you $519, while the P30 and P80 will start at $849 and $999, respectively -- all should be available by the end of the month. Head on past the break for the complete press release.

Not turned on by Pentax's recently released Optio W80? How's about a colorful variant for $50 less? This fine evening, the waterproof Optio WS80 is being unveiled alongside two other entirely less enchanting point-and-shoots. The $249.95 WS80 (shown above) looks about as natural as a waterproof camera can, arriving this September in "his-and-her designs" with a 10 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, a sub-1-inch thick body, 2.7-inch LCD and the ability to withstand depths of up to five feet (lackluster, we know). Still, the ability to snag underwater video at 720p is a real boon, and there's even face detection, shake reduction and sensitivity modes as high as ISO 6400. As for the other guys, the Optio P80 gets things going with a 12.1 megapixel CCD, 2.7-inch LCD, 720p (30fps) movie mode, face detection, shake reduction, a 4x wide-angle optical zoom lens (equivalent to 27.5 - 110mm focal length) and support for AA batteries. It's expected to ship this September for $199.95 in black, pearl and mint hues. Finally, the low-end E80 is pretty much the same as the P80 save for its 10 megapixel sensor, 15fps 720p movie mode and 3x optical zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 32 - 96mm. It should also ship in September for $129.95. Check the full releases and specification sheets after the break... if you dare.

  • ASUS equips P30 and P80 laptops with Intel's Anti-Theft Technology

Remember Intel's Anti-Theft Technology that debuted around this time last year? You know, that wicked cool invention that you've heard absolutely nothing about ever since? Evidently it's still alive and kickin', as ASUS has just announced that two of its lappies will come loaded with it. The P30 and P80 will both arrive with the so-called theft deterrent system, enabling owners to send a "poison pill" (it's words, not ours) remotely, rendering their computer inoperable by "comprehensively shutting it down." If you manage to reacquire it in one piece, a passphrase can be inputted in order to reactivate things. Still, we have to wonder how this will really detract thieves from snapping up unattended machines -- we mean, do they really stop to check out the anti-theft software before wheeling away with your rig? We're guessing not.[Via HotHardware]

  • Touchscreen-based CUPC-P80 UMPC just might double as a carputer

Comfile Technology's CUPC-P80 isn't quite a full-fledged UMPC, though it could definitely get away with posing as one. Realistically though, we suspect this one was engineered to control media and such within your vehicle. The 12v power system and the 10.2-inch display sure make it an ideal candidate for replacing that stock radio in your '87 Taurus, and while the 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 isn't potent enough to stream YouTube videos in high-def, it should be plenty to spin your latest Tears For Fears-filled playlist. Other specs include 512MB of RAM, an Ethernet port, 4GB of flash storage, three USB sockets and an SD card slot. The rig can be purchased now for $699 without an OS, or for $849 with Windows XP embedded.[Via Zedomax, thanks Max]

  • Lenovo's phone biz soldiers on with P80 flip

In modern business, brand names frequently have very little -- nay, shockingly little -- to do with the company that's actually behind the product, and Lenovo's totally cool playing that game. Well, not Lenovo proper -- but Lenovo Mobile, which was sold off earlier in the year but continues to use the parent company's name to hawk goods. That's where the P80 comes into play, a new flip that features a 1-inch external OLED combined with a 2.8-inch primary display, microSD expansion to 4GB, 2-megapixel cam, and FM radio. Missing are dual SIM slots (surprisingly common in China) and GPS, but hey, at least it's available in seven tasty colors.

Not been zooming in on "things" enough lately? Well maybe Nikon can help. The company is introducing the new Coolpix P80 18x zoom camera, which covers focal lengths from 27mm to 486mm -- which is a ton of millimeters. The P80 also sports the camera-maker's fancy pants NIKKOR optics, burst modes in four, six, and 13 FPS, ISO to 6400, and a 2.7-inch, anti-reflective LCD display. The camera has a slew of onboard tweaks that make capturing your family get-togethers or drunken escapades easier (provided the two events are separate), like auto redeye reduction and face detection (Face Priority AF). The Coolpix P80 will be available this month for the astonishing MSRP of $399.99. Check the gallery below for a number of revealing angles.%Gallery-20218%
