Bayonetta 2 doesn't hit Western shelves for another couple of weeks - check out the launch trailer below the break - but the demo is available right now on both the North American and European eShops. There's a brief tutorial introducing the basic hack-and-slash moves, but fans of the first game won't be surprised to see the demo drop you straight into the madness after that. In the 15 minutes or so it lasts you do battle with all manner of beasties, regular-sized and generally massive, all while riding on top of a jet plane, being chased down on a moving train, and winging your way around a huge dragon thing that's made its way up a tower, King Kong-style. Expect similar insanity when the Wii U game launches on October 24. While we know the Bayo demo is big news - by the by, it's just over two years since Nintendo wowed us by announcing Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive - there are other games, full games, out on the eShop this week. WiiWare favorite Art of Balance comes to Wii U in a new, bigger iteration, tasking players with 200 levels to stack up oddly shaped objects in while keeping things steady. For even more nostalgic types, Game Boy Advance entry Castlevania: Circle of the Moon whips up a Virtual Console debut this week too, again on Wii U. So, you know the drill: You'll find the list of new releases below the break, with prices, details and dates of availability (PS: as ever, if there's no date that means it's out today or is already out). As for sales, check Nintendo's press release for the complete list of offers - our pick this week is loco Latin-styled platformer Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, which is roughly a third off at $9.75 until October 16.

Ohhhhhhhh no / Those ghosts have got to go / Go go Paczilla Pac-Man and his pals are back for another round of 3D platforming with the upcoming release of Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS, publisher Bandai Namco announced this week. Based on the latest season of the ongoing animated series Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, this year's sequel allows players to switch between Pac-Man and new playable characters Spiral and Cylindria. Players are also equipped with new powers and skills, including the ability to transform Pac-Man into the monstrous (and, honestly, kinda terrifying) Paczilla. Bandai Namco gave the entirety of 2014 as a North American release window for Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2, but a recent press release narrows the game's UK arrival down to the month of October. With the help of Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and 3DS owners, Pac-Man can stretch his legs and get out of that maze called life for a while. Like the TV show sharing the same universe, Ghostly Adventures 2 will feature Pac-Man and pals Spiral and Cylindria, with the sidekicks appearing in their own on-rails levels and to assist Pac-Man in "tough situations." The sequel follows the trio's efforts to defend PacWorld from Lord Betrayus' army, with Pac-Man using power ups and vehicles to help get the job done. If you're pretty sure a 3D Pac-Man adventure game could never be your thing, well ... at least there's always Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+. [Image: Bandai Namco]

First it was a game, then it was a cartoon, then it was a game, and now it's a game ... again! Don't worry about following that baffling pedigree, all you need to know is that Bandai Namco has announced Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and 3DS handheld. Like its predecessor, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 is based not on the arcade classic that everyone reading this site should be familiar with, but is instead based on the ongoing Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures animated series. As a result, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 is not focused on maneuvering a ravenous yellow pie chart through a neon maze, chomping pellets, but is instead a platformer where Pac-Man devours Power Berries which allow him to change into special, super-powered forms. Proving how far Pac-Man has come from his origins as an armless, blind eating machine, the iconic character will also be able to pilot a number of vehicles seen in the animated series. Though Bandai Namco has yet to attach a specific release date to the game, the publisher hopes to debut Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures 2 at some point during 2014, presumably alongside the first episode of the second season of the animated series.
