We've all been there. Awake at some ludicrously early hour -- on a Saturday morning no less -- slaving away over a hot griddle only to have your pancakes snubbed because they're too circular. Next time, impress your brood by frying up some custom-designed flapjacks using this robotic pancake printer. It's called the PancakeBot. This device combines an electric griddle and a patent-pending batter dispensing system to effectively "print" out pancakes virtually in any shape you can imagine -- or at least trace.

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Alex Ziebart will be your host today. While there are World of Warcraft and general Blizzard questions in today's Queue, I feel this first question is the most important one of the lot. @Grizz_Face asked: How can i get my pancakes to that perfect golden colour?

We'd like to pretend to be all serious about the science behind teaching a robot arm to teach itself a complicated motion like pancake flipping. We'd drone on and on about how the combination of demonstrated motion, trial-and-error, and object motion tracking come together for some "Expectation-Maximization based Reinforcement Learning," but really we just can't stop giggling at all the pancake misses perpetrated by the robot on video, which can be found after the break.

Remember the last time you made pancakes? No? Well, let us remind you: it ended in sadness and confusion because you simply couldn't crank out the insane volume of pancakes you wanted / needed. Well, the ChefStack is here to help. It's a giant, automated machine with internal rollers, and its entire purpose is to do nothing but make pancakes (roughly 200 per hour). Using pre-filled bags of batter, this dude does all the work while you site by, and apparently it's also a breeze to clean too, though we find that a bit hard to believe. Now -- do you need a machine that makes nothing but pancakes? Are the pancakes any good? Hard to say -- but this device, which seems to be targeted at restaurants, will run you about $3,500 if you really want to get your hands on one. [Via SlashGear]

  • The Daily Grind: Pancakes?

Pancakes, just about everyone loves 'em. They're deliciously light and fluffy and can be sweetened with everything from blueberries to chocolate chips. Just like their flat 'n tasty counterparts, Pancake MMOs are light, fluffy and sweet all over. Hello Kitty Online, Go Pets, Neopets, Free Realms, Club Penguin and the near bouquet-size of franchise-based MMOs coming from Disney seem to be piling up on our proverbial plates. These MMOs can taste great and do tend to venture into fun, experimental game design territory. However, are they also like actual pancakes in that too many will cause everyone to grasp their collective stomachs and painfully moan, "Too many pancakes!" or can we stomach endless amounts of soft, tasty sweetness?

A little over 24 hours after we reported on an installment in the popular franchise Atelier Iris coming to the DS, we're now happy to report that visuals of the title have surfaced. Scanned in by a poster over at NeoGAF, the Japanese magazine shows not only concept art for the title, but also some in-game sprites and environments. While we lack the means to translate any of the text in each scan, we would never let such a thing stop us from making up the game's scenario ourselves.Based in the secluded village of Pancakington, the player will take the role of young Flappy Flapjack. Enrolled in the local chapter of Batter Magic Academy, players must guide the hero through the trials and tribulations of becoming the world's finest Buttermilk Mage. Spreading syrup, utilizing ancient flipping arts, and complex alchemy are just a few of the school's skills the player must master before he is ready to tackle the world's greatest foe and oldest evil in Archmage Healthfoodguy. And before you ask, yes, we would so totally play a game like that. For really reals.
