Apple executive Eddy Cue wasn't joking around when he said that Apple was going to leverage streaming album premieres on iTunes Radio. Not only do advance streams of upcoming albums help generate lots of pre-orders via iTunes, it also helps people dial in to iTunes Radio in the first place. Apple yesterday notified iTunes users that it would be streaming Pearl Jam's upcoming album, titled Lightning Bolt, on iTunes Radio. The album isn't scheduled for release until October 15, so that's a solid six-day lead time for Pearl Jam fans to get acquainted with Eddie Vedder and Co.'s latest release. Next week's Rock Band DLC includes packs from Bruno Mars and Rise Against (totally not The Machine). There are also pro guitar upgrades for Mötley Crüe's "Kickstart My Heart" and Pearl Jam's "Even Flow" legacy titles.

For a site that writes about all things video games, we've written an awful lot about Pearl Jam over the last couple of years. In fairness, Pearl Jam has been making a lot of noise on the rhythm game front, releasing an entire album as DLC for Rock Band 2, eliciting responses from their community on a future "Rock Band project," and now, announcing that their next album is dropping day and date at retail as well as DLC for Rock Band 2. Billboard spoke with the band and confirmed that their next album, titled "Backspacer," will be "available on Rock Band the day it comes out." Additionally, Target will be getting its own version of the album that will come with a code to download various PJ songs in Rock Band -- a tactic that the group's employed in the past. "Backspacer" hits stores and XBLM/PSN on September 20. [Via VG247]

Rock Band Wiikly's tap has flowed with massive quantities of tracks for weeks now. Sure, the releases aren't exactly synced with Rock Band Weekly, but the back catalog of Rock Band DLC is certainly being filled in. Our concern that it would take until mid-2010 for the full catalog sync is slowly dissipating. This week's update of 16 tracks to the Wii music store includes the Pearl Jam tracks from a couple weeks back, along with a whole mess of other stuff. Find the full list after the break.

In addition to this week's Rock Band Weekly featuring Maroon 5 and artists from the Warped Tour, those pranksters at Harmonix snuck in some Pearl Jam tracks. The three tracks were bundled with the re-release of Pearl Jam's Ten album earlier this year.Pearl Jam Ten Bonus Pack (440 / $5.50) "Brother" (160 / $2) "Alive (Live: Drop in the Park)" (160 / $2) "State of Love and Trust (Live: Drop in the Park)" (160 / $2) These master recording will be available tomorrow and Thursday on Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

  • Pearl Jam returns in new 'Rock Band project' with fan-voted set list

Rock Band fans are already familiar with Pearl Jam. The band has twelve tracks (all from the "Ten" album) available in the game, on disc and as DLC. However, it looks as though there's much more Pearl Jam coming down the line. A collaboration between MTV Games, Rhapsody, and the band's premium 10 Club will allow fans to vote on songs for a forthcoming "Rock Band project." This new project will be Rock Band's "first-ever fan voted set list."The release is decidedly vague, and opens the possibility for a brand new game (a la Guitar Hero: Metallica, or The Beatles: Rock Band), a retail track pack (a la Rock Band: AC/DC), or simple DLC. Considering the upcoming "project" will exclusively feature live music, we're leaning on a retail track pack -- who's up for some Rock Band: Pearl Jam?[Thanks, Eric!]

Pearl Jam's breakthrough 1991 debut album, Ten, becomes Rock Band's latest piece of grungy DLC next week. The album features several tracks that owned the radio airwaves in the early '90s, along with the song that inspired one of the most iconic music videos of all time -- "Jeremy." Ironically, after the success of Ten, the band became known for refusing to make videos for its songs.Pearl Jam's Ten (1440 / $18) "Once" (160 / $2) "Even Flow" (160 / $2) "Why Go" (160 / $2) "Black" (160 / $2) "Jeremy" (160 / $2) "Oceans" (160 / $2) "Porch" (160 / $2) "Garden" (160 / $2) "Deep" (160 / $2) "Release" (160 / $2) "Master/Slave" (160 / $2) All tracks are masters and will be available for download next Tuesday and Thursday for Xbox 360 and PS3, respectively.

As an extra incentive for those who'll be picking up the March 24 re-release of Pearl Jam's album, Ten, each copy purchased from Best Buy stores will come with a redemption code to download three Rock Band tracks. Both of the deluxe album editions (including the $125 Super Deluxe Edition) will allow for a free download of Pearl Jam's "Brother," "Alive" and "State of Love & Trust" RB DLC from either the XBLM or PSN. Remember, those three songs -- as well as the entire Ten album -- are headed to the Rock Band Music Store sometime this March. Our fingers are crossed in hopes that Best Buy can deliver the codes in a timely manner, because its execution of the last Rock Band promotion was flaky at best.[Via IGN]

On March 24 of next year, Pearl Jam will release a remastered version of their debut album, Ten, in five different editions: one LP version, three CD-based versions (the most expensive of which also includes the LPs) ... and as Rock Band downloads. At least we assume it's the remaster in Rock Band, and not the original, because that would be really weird timing.Geoff Keighley made the announcement while presenting at the Spike Video Game Awards, so we don't have a lot of information other than that it's on the way to Rock Band. The Wii version of Rock Band 2 will presumably be out by March (we're trying to have faith that it'll be out this week), so, for once, we'll be able to care about this DLC announcement.Despite the dangers of hearing your idiot friends failing to successfully imitate Eddie Vedder's vocals, we couldn't be more thrilled about this announcement. For some of us who were teenagers in the early '90s, and weren't too cool to buy an album that other people had heard of, Ten was pretty dang world-changing.

Backstage at the VGAs, GTTV's Geoff Keighley just revealed that Pearl Jam's Ten album will be releasing to Rock Band next March. No, we didn't stutter, Pearl Jam is coming to Rock Band! We suspect all eleven tracks will be included in the album release, but highly doubt any of the bonus material will make the cut. Pearl Jam headed to Rock Band, you know you love it.

An "exclusive" from Geoff Keighley, who likely read that line from a teleprompter while presenting live from the Spike VGAs: Pearl Jam's "Ten" album is coming as a Rock Band downloadable album in March. That should be just enough time for you to find the appropriate amount of flannel to wear while you play.
