Pendleton Ward is no stranger to gaming. His popular cartoon, Adventure Time, frequently references video games and tabletop roleplaying games, and even features an anthropomorphic video game console as a recurring character. Perhaps it's little surprise, then, that Ward would create a game (or something closely resembling a game) on Twitter. Yesterday, Ward tweeted an image of a jail cell with the caption: "You wake up in a dungeon cell. What do you do:" Ward then accepted input from other Twitter users, drawing the results, as if players were experiencing a classic text adventure game. He's since renamed his Twitter account "Quest Attack" and has continued to draw out players' progress and commands. It's kind of like Twitch Plays Pokemon, only there's a real human being being directed by the mob of onlookers. Since the game is operating in real-time, it gets put on pause every so often when Ward needs to take care of real-life business. Such as business lunches. [Image: Cartoon Network]

Amnesia Fortnight, the annual two-week internal game jam at Double Fine, is fully underway. This year includes three game ideas from Double Fine developers and one pitched by Adventure Time scribe and Broken Age voice actor, Pendleton Ward. In Dear Leader, players guide the development of a post-revolution country as its tyrannical leader. Mnemonic, a first-person noir adventure game, explores the fragmented memories of a man searching to find out who killed the woman he loved. Steed is an open-world action game set in medieval times and centered around a horse-for-hire stuck in a world full of inept heroes. Finally, Ward's Little Pink Best Buds is a game centered around little pink characters who all wish to be your best friend. Everyone can purchase and play the finished prototypes through the Humble Bundle store. Purchase also guarantees copies of 2012's prototypes, including space station management sim Spacebase DF-9. Double Fine will be streaming portions of Amnesia Fortnight through Twitch, starting at 1:30pm ET (10:30am PT/6:30pm GMT) today. We've embedded the Twitch player past the break, so feel free to join us here to watch the festivities go down. [Image: Double Fine]

Double Fine's annual game jam, Amnesia Fortnight, is upon us once again. Over the next two weeks, small teams within Double Fine will conceptualize new games and create working prototypes that will, through the power of internet voting, be made into full-fledged games. This year's festivities include a special twist: Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward is participating as a special guest project leader. Ward will head up his own team and create a working prototype based on one of his four designs, as voted for by the fans. A list of Pendleton Ward's prototypes are available over on the Amnesia Fortnight Humble Bundle page. Mathematical! The pitch video above shows Double Fine is full of ideas - we kind of lost count after the eighth game idea - but there are individual pitch videos for each idea over on Double Fine's YouTube page. There are games about cats, space exploration, fantasy wars, karate troopers, turning Tim Schafer into a pocket monster, something about a ghost dog (not that Ghost Dog) and Bad Golf 2 Bad Golf 2 Bad Golf 2 Bad Golf 2. A documentary from 2 Player Productions will chronicle the whole event. You can head on over to the Humble Store page right now and contribute some cash for the right to vote on which prototypes move on. Doing so will grant immediate access to 2012's prototypes, which include Amnesia Fortnight 2012 winner Spacebase DF-9. [Image: Double Fine]

The Nintendo Video channel, accessible through the corresponding eShop app on 3DS, will introduce a handful of new shows this fall. Five shows in total are coming, including The Misadventures of Link, Pikmin Nature Documentaries, Bravest Warriors, Wildheart Riukiu and Bee and PuppyCat. The Misadventures of Link is a series of comedy shorts starring the tunic-wearing hero, promising to portray Link "in a new and hysterical light." The series will be based on The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD. Pikmin Nature Documentaries, a spoof on traditional nature shows, will highlight Captain Olimar's colorful pals as seen in their natural environment. Bravest Warriors, from Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward, is about four teenage heroes-for-hire who traipse across galaxies helping aliens in crisis. The four teenagers vanquish their enemies with emotional powers and will be featured in Bravest Warriors every Friday on Nintendo Video. Rounding out the quintet is Wildheart Riukiu, a new series of 3D shorts from the creator of popular Nintendo Video series Meat or Die, and Bee and PuppyCat - a two-part series following an unemployed woman who meets a mysterious creature resembling both a puppy and a cat. The new content will start trickling out tomorrow, on November 1, and release throughout 2014.

Pendleton Ward, the beard behind the cult-cute cartoon series Adventure Time, loves games. He says so right on his new Tumblr called "I Love Games You Guys," which is where Ward plans to "interview people who work on games."Apparently it's also where he plans to post adorable video game gifs, starting with Mario. Ward is gearing up for his first interview with Charles Martinet, who has provided the voice of Mario since 1994. I Love Games You Guys is a community effort, with Ward asking readers if they can help him snag contacts or make connections with interviewees in the industry.Considering there's an Adventure Time game on its way, maybe Ward should interview himself. If you have a helpful connection or just want to watch Mario stick a plunger on his face for a few hours, check out Ward's Tumblr right here.
