The Japanese software charts for the week ending February 8 don't just feature one PlayStation game at the top of the list, but four. It's a grand slam victory for Sony as titles for all of its current systems (PSP, PS3 and PS2) occupy the top four slots. Those titles happen to be two RPGs and two soccer games. 1. Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 (PSP) - 45,000 units sold 2. Demon's Souls (PS3) - 40,000 3. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PSP) - 38,000 4. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (PS2) - 37,000 There was one other PlayStation title that made the top-ten list, though it only came up at number seven. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, Japan's most popular PSP game, took the honors. It seems that game has a permanent spot on the charts, as it has dominated in sales for the majority of last year. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that it has just recently broken the three-million barrier.

Here's some great news for the PS3 in the land of the rising sun: sales have more than double during the week of November 24th to November 30th, going from 17,436 units sold to 34,978 units sold. You can check out the sales chart in Japanese here. We knew things had to slow down at some point, and it looks like that "some point" would be now. This week's PSP releases offer a bit of Tom Clancy's patented war thrills, while Europe gets a slightly early taste of WWE's latest.NA Games: Tom Clancy's EndWar EU Games: Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 Tom Clancy's EndWar WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 Asian Games: No new releases Surprisingly, we're writing the "no new releases" line for Asia. Who would have thought that was actually ever going to happen?

The download, which clocks in at around 1.2GB, features four player online co-op and a handful of teams. Just as expected. So, now that you know your demo downloading mission, we think it's time to get a start. 1.2GB doesn't download itself.

Quite a long list of content today, particularly if you include all the Rock Band and FIFA 09 downloadable content. Two more Rock Band albums are released today, leaving Europe up to date with DLC. Until the American PSN update later today, that is. Geon comes to Europe, with trophies in tow, along with the PES 09 demo (we know a lot of you'll be happy about that) and the Bioshock demo. Also, be sure to grab the PixelJunk Eden soundtrack. At this price, you'd be daft not to. Plus, it's DRM free, so you can listen to it on any device you like (we'll be using it as our WipEout HD soundtrack). Here's the full release list:Playable content Geon full game (£4.99/€7.99) Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 demo (free) Bioshock demo (free) Add-on content FIFA 09 Live Seasons (listed after the break) Rock Band DLC (listed after the break) Music PixelJunk Eden Soundtrack (£1.49/€1.99) PixelJunk Monsters Soundtrack (£1.49/€1.99) Videos Facebreaker "Auditions" Part 1 Facebreaker "Auditions" Part 2 Facebreaker "Auditions" Part 3 Tomb Raider Underworld trailer GT Academy - The Finalists Themes and Wallpapers Fallout 3 "Pip-Boy 3000" theme Prince of Persia "Corrupted Landscape" wallpaper Prince of Persia "Healed Landscape" wallpaper

Our Konami friends (yes, we're best friends and no, we don't have to prove it) just announced that a Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 demo will be making its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace this Thursday, October 2nd.The PES 2009 demo will include a five minute multiplayer exhibition match as well as a few promotion videos detailing the game's new game modes. As far as team selection goes, Liverpool, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and both Italian and French national teams will be available in the demo. Sadly, the "All Man, All David Beckham" team will not be included in either the PES 2009 demo or retail version.

If you've come to love soccer football not only as a sport but as a videogame, then chances are you've played the Pro Evolution series. The series has been known to always get the footy crowd going; this leaves the latest entry -- Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 -- with some mighty spikes to fill. Not one to shy away from a challenge, we hit the latest build of PES 2009 this past Tuesday and we quite enjoyed our friendly match.Getting right into the footy action, we chose which countries were going to duke it out and then proceeded to pick our sides. Interestingly, PES 2009 makes good use of the PS3's maximum number of controller ports -- which is seven. That means seven people can play a match offline at the same time. Moving onto the gameplay, in general, it's solid as usual. The ball doesn't gravitate to a player's feet and contains some of the most realistic physics for ball movement. Speaking of physics, player motions are some of the best to be seen in the series. They're incredibly lifelike, making such visuals as dribbling fun to watch (and fun to control); bone-cracking tackles can look pretty sick both in a good (realistic) and a bad (makes you pity the player) way. %Gallery-25896%

  • Konami scores UEFA assets for Pro Evolution Soccer franchise

Electronic Arts has had the NFL completely monopolized since 2005, giving them exclusive rights to official league teams and players for their Madden franchise -- but did you also know that they've also traditionally had assets for most professional European soccer leagues tied up as well? (You did? Well aren't you awesome.) However, Konami recently released some details concerning the next installment in their Pro Evolution Soccer franchise -- chief among these being their new licensing deals with the UEFA, as well as the Manchester United and Liverpool football clubs.Assets from the UEFA as well as the two clubs will be included in Pro Evolution Soccer 2009. It's quite a coup for Konami, whose sales figures for PES titles have traditionally paled in comparison to those of EA's FIFA series. We anticipate EA's retaliation -- we hear they're in talks with various athletic leagues to purchase the exclusive rights for sports.

  • PES 2009 corners into Europe this Autumn

As some of us pour one out for our fallen countrymen of Portugal, Croatia, Netherlands and Italy, we take solace in the fact that digital soccer football will return to Europe this Autumn. Konami today announced that its popular football franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer, will release its 2009 edition later this year for European consumers. Known for its realism and hardcore gamplay, PES 2009 attempts to capture videophiles with a newly revamped graphics engine and standard pitch-perfect (see what we did there?) animation. While PES 2008 was riddled with wacky bugs, the 2009 season promises to bring the series back to its roots of being the football game to beat. No release dates for other regions have been determined. If it's half as good as they claim it to be, all we can say is hurry! Gallery: PES 2009
