Let's get ready for a lawsuit! Yoogames has been called out on the EVE Online forums for using images from EVE in order to promote its own game, Planet War. But it's not just EVE Online getting ripped off here; keen-eyed forum-goers have spotted pictures of StarCraft 2's Protoss Yo-Mommaship and Star Wars' Trade Federation space station. What will become of this, no one knows... oh, who are we kidding? This is lawsuit city. CCP's own CCP Fallout stopped by the thread to thank the OP for pointing out the infringement and to say that he is "notifying the relevant parties in the company." So grab some popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the show. We'll be sure to bring you the latest in courtroom entertainment as it develops.

YooGames' Planet War is rapidly expanding on all fronts, doubling its servers from one to two today. The addition of the newest server, Knight, is an indication that this browser-based space strategy title is gaining an audience. To celebrate Knight's opening, YooGames is launching a series of events for those brave (or foolhardy) enough to venture into the dangerous void of space looking for wealth and glory. Anyone who rolls on Knight will automatically be granted a VIP code, which can be turned in for a prize pack. There are additional rewards for players who are the first in the doors, who purchase gold for the first time on the server, who buy over 1,000 gold, and who get their heavy workshop tech up to level 5. It's not just about the solo player, either; YooGames is also looking to reward the 10 best legions that prove their worth on the Knight server. Currently, Planet War is in open beta and is free-to-play for all. [Source: YooGames press release]

Planet War's beta phases are moving right along, and today marks the start of the sci-fi browser title's official open beta. Getting in on the action is as easy as navigating to the game's official website and signing up for a free account. There's no download (and no cost, as Planet War is free-to-play), so there's really nothing stopping you from checking it out. What sets the game apart from the legions of other browser games clamoring for your hard-earned free time? Contests, basically, and YooGames is running a lot of them during the buildup to the title's official release. According to the company's latest press release, "events include building the largest army of commanders, racing towards the best technology, and so much more." Head to the official Planet War website and get your free account to see exactly how much more.

Last week we told you about a new sci-fi browser MMO called Planet War. YooGames' space-based opus looks to add a couple of new wrinkles to web-based strategy titles including alien foreign policy and large-scale conquest. Don't take our word for it, though. The closed beta is currently underway, and YooGames is accepting new testers via their website registration form. Planet War also boasts a special gift event for closed beta players who are present for the unveiling of the Bellona server. Each individual will receive a VIP code that grants resources, coins, a point voucher, and five in-game construction robots. Head to the official Planet War website to learn more about the game, and don't forget to view the trailer after the cut!

Here at Massively we get dozens of game-related press releases on an hourly basis. Rarely, though, does a blurb say something like "players build aircraft carriers to navigate the stars and Milky Way to explore and learn of ancient civilizations." The release for YooGames' new browser-based MMO Planet War said just that, and as a result we're keen on taking a look at the title's closed beta when it kicks off on August 9th. YooGames also says that Planet War is inspired by famous sci-fi novels and heroes, and aims to provide a unique strategy experience that features both conquest and alien foreign policy. We're not sure what that means as of yet, but it definitely piqued our interest. You can learn more about the game at its official web site as well as the Planet War Facebook portal.
