Adobe’s new all-in-one video-editing tool will work across devices
Adobe is working on a new video-editing product called Project Rush that brings three tools -- Premiere Pro, Audition and After Effects -- together in one place. With Project Rush, you'll be able to edit the color of your videos, improve the sound quality, build a title sequence, add some stock footage and publish it to whatever platform you'd like without having to leave Rush. You'll also be able to do this on multiple devices as Rush will work on both desktop and mobile, and all projects are automatically synced to the cloud, so you can always pick up where you left off. When you're done editing, you can create a thumbnail, decide where to publish the video -- be it YouTube, Facebook, Facebook Stories, Instagram, Instagram Stories Vimeo, Twitter or Snapchat -- and schedule it, all from one screen.
Adobe Photoshop adds Content-Aware Crop and font suggestions
Adobe usually announces significant updates to Creative Cloud every six months, and its delivering another right on schedule. While the changes are scattered across all of the apps in the company's software subscription and its stock photo service, we'll focus primarily on Photoshop. For its popular photo-editing app, Adobe is adding a Content-Aware Crop to the collection of smart design tools. Here, the software automatically fills in any gaps that are created when you either rotate and image or expand it beyond its original size. This new cropping option joins the handy Content-Aware Fill and other tools that make quick work of photo edits.
Adobe releases latest Creative Cloud apps, surveys disgruntled customers about pricing
Love it or hate it, Adobe's Creative Cloud subscription-based software is now the only way to get your favorite apps like Photoshop, Premiere Pro and the like. The company has just released the latest versions of most of those programs, now dubbed CC, which can be installed alongside the current apps for those afraid to change mid-project. Meanwhile, Adobe's trying to tempt previous suite or apps owners to transition to the new system for up to 60 percent off for CS6 owners during a 12-month period, or 40 percent off for those on CS3 to CS5.5. According to Photo Rumors, Adobe is also considering a new pricing structure in response to a massive online backlash against the subscription model from existing clients, who feel it's too expensive. The company sent out a survey asking some of them what they thought about paying $10 per month for three years for Photoshop, or $30 for the entire suite, while being able to keep a permanent CS6 copy of either at the end. Considering the level of vehemence we saw earlier, we'll have to wait and see if that'll fly. Meanwhile, check the PR after the break to see what's new in all the apps.
Adobe Premiere Pro on Windows to boast OpenCL support
Premiere Pro has already been tearing through video with OpenCL on Macs for a year, and now AMD and Adobe have teamed up to bring support for the open standard to Windows with the software's next version. Not only does the duo claim it's the first time Microsoft's OS has been graced with hardware-accelerated video editing using OpenCL, but they boast that exporting video replete with effects from a source to a final format can now be done up to 4.3 times faster. There's no word on when the fresh release of Premiere Pro will arrive, but if it's any consolation, Adobe says it's set to unveil some "incredible enhancements" to its video editing tools at NAB next week.
Adobe outs Premiere Pro CS6: a 'massive release' with better multicam and more
If you turned your back on FCP X even after the big update, then the latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro may be of particular interest. CS6 brings an enhanced 64-bit playback engine that can handle 5K resolutions and higher, new trimming options, compatibility with Mac touchpad gestures, a Warp Stabilizer that was previously confined to After Effects, expanded multicam editing for more than four cameras and other stuff too plentiful to list in one breath. Adobe Premiere Pro, Soundbooth updated for Leopard
Here's a quickie update notice: Adobe recently updated both Premiere Pro and Soundbooth for complete Leopard compatibility. Premiere Pro 3.1.1, a 54MB update, also includes "important bug fixes" (but what they are, is anyone's guess), and is available from Adobe's website, in addition to the 4.1MB Soundbooth fix. Happy video/sound editing in Leopard!
