This year at CES Samsung celebrated 50 years in the electronics business, and seemed intent on blowing things out with a combination of smart home products, AI and 5G. Besides taking a victory lap over its advances in next-gen wireless, the company showed off how AI and machine learning could touch nearly all of the many products it makes. Everything from washing machines to its Smart Hub refrigerator, or a connected car has had a touch of Bixby AI applied, and it plans to do more with the technology going forward. Samsung also highlighted its deal with Apple snagging an iTunes Movies and TV app for its TVs, along with AirPlay 2 support. The company said sales of TVs over 75-inches are exploding, and that's part of the reason why it introduced a massive 98-inch 8K set with HDMI 2.1 onboard, plus new expansions of its Wall TV that can reach sizes of 219-inches. Samsung closed out the show by giving its first demo of a new robotics project. The Samsung Bot Care trundled around and gave quick checkups, but it's only one of the robotic assists Samsung is working on. Its plans for AI and smart devices have a long way to go, and what it showed is supposed to only be a preview of what we should expect for its next 50 years.

  • Sony’s E3 2018 show: Our verdict

Last month, Sony poured cold water on the idea that its E3 press conference would be a big, blockbuster show. Instead, Sony said that we could expect more intimate, deeper-dives on games like Death Stranding, Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us: Part II and Spider-Man. Sony was aiming for something close to a Revival Meeting vibe, hosting its event in a church hall with ribbons of bulbs running along the ceiling and pews for the attendees.

It's that time of year again, can you feel it? It's E3! What will you be playing this fall on the Xbox One's first birthday? We'll find out today, and you can watch along as it happens. What should you expect? Probably more details on the Halo: Master Chief Collection, a heaping helping of the console's colorful (and from the looks of it, pretty wacky) shooter Sunset Overdrive and some of Forza: Horizon 2's fancy rides. But wait, there's likely more: you like Call of Duty, watching movies and TV shows on your Xbox and charming indie games too, right? Well, based on previous years we should see more news about those too. So be sure to check out our liveblog and follow along with the press conference that's embedded just below. It'll be fun! What's a virtual reality headset without software? Nothing -- and Sony knows it, which is why the company is treating GDC attendees to four demos on the conference show floor, starting tomorrow morning. Some of them are familiar: when EVE: Valkyrie was announced as a playable demo, Sony's GDC audience erupted into cheers and applause. Gamers stopping by Sony's booth will also get a chance to play a special build of Thief created specifically for virtual reality. Although these traditional gaming experiences are likely to steal the show, Sony's also trotting out two demos that sound more passive: The Deep and The Castle, which lets players experience a shark-infested lagoon and a medieval fortress, respectively. So, how do these games play? We'll let you know as soon as the GDC show floor opens tomorrow.

To go along with the Xperia Z1's 1/2.3-inch, 20.7-megapixel G lens sensor, Sony's just announced the Social Camera Suite at IFA 2013. The glamor feature is Info-Eye, which gives you a visual search function on any captured landmarks or items like wine or books. There's also the AR effects function, which can overlay animations (dinosaurs, for instance) on top of your pictures. Rounding out the suite is Social live, giving you instant social network broadcast, and Timeshift burst, which takes 61 images in 2 seconds before and after you press the shutter to avoid missed shots. To get it you'll need the Xperia Z1, aka Honami, of course -- check out our hands-on here. Follow all of our IFA 2013 coverage by heading to our event hub!

Facebook had a banner year in 2012. It became a publicly-traded company, acquired Instagram, and continued to evolve its social network through added features and countless app updates. What're we gonna see from Mark Zuckerberg and pals in 2013? It's tough to tell, but at least part of Facebook's future will be revealed tomorrow when the company shows off something new it's been building. Might it be, at long last, the fabled Facebook phone? There's only one way to find out, so join us tomorrow for our liveblog right here at 1:00pm ET, where you can learn all about the social network's next big thing.

It's a fine autumn day in NYC. The air is cool, it's a little breezy and a certain Taiwanese manufacturer has invited us over to check out some cool new gadgets. What exactly does HTC have in store? Well, that's anyone's guess, but suspicions are focused on Windows Phone 8 and a certain leaked handset with the codename Accord. Check back in at the time below to get all the news as it happens live. September 19, 2012 11:00 AM EDT

HTC isn't betraying too much with its event invite, but we've got our suspicions about what the Taiwanese company has up its sleeve. Maybe there will even be a few surprises in store for us, who knows? That's why we had to accept HTC's invite and will be there live, in person to experience the reveal ourselves. Since you can't be there (and we wouldn't want you to be square), join us tomorrow morning at 11am ET and follow along in the liveblog right here -- we'll know you're with us in spirit. Update: How about that: the company just whittled down the possibilities through an official teaser on its Facebook page. All we see is the corner of a Windows Phone, the event date and a promise that it's a day "when beautiful hardware meets stunning software." It doesn't take much sleuthing to deduce that this is HTC's turn at a Windows Phone 8 device launch, and that we may well see devices like the 8X when the New York City gathering gets started. It's a busy day to say the least. We hope you've had a chance to catch your breath after Nokia and Microsoft's little powwow, cause now it's time for what Motorola has rather presumptuously dubbed "the day's main event." The big news is undoubtedly a brand new LTE device, as betrayed by the Verizon logo emblazoned on our invite. Could it be the oft-leaked RAZR HD? You'll just have to check back at the appropriate time to find out. September 5, 2012 2:00 PM EDT

We can't wait for the E3 showroom floors to officially open -- and thankfully, neither can Nintendo. With E3 2012 right around the corner, Reggie and co. want to make sure your oft-distracted eyes catch every drip drop of the impending Wii U news flood. Much like it did last year, Nintendo's yet again taking to media outlets old and new for coverage of its All-Access Presentation, scheduled for June 5th at 9AM PST, that should prove an unavoidable must-see for any gamer bred on the house that Mario built. Whether you take your news via flat-screen or monitor, the gaming giant's got a solution to sate your preferred means of consumption, making its press conference available ad-free on Spike TV and MTV2, or online with a Facebook-hosted live stream. Of course, you can always set your browser to the Big N's own dedicated site on the big day to keep abreast of its next planned dive into the deep Blue Ocean. • HTC and Sprint ready to show off a new 'collaboration' April 4th, might be the One X

    03.20.2012

We just got invited to a special party put on by Sprint and HTC on April 4th to witness the latest collaboration between the two companies. Could this be the LTE-capable One X we heard about yesterday? No matter what it is, Dan Hesse and Jason Mackenzie will be there, so you know it's going to be kind of a big deal. We'll join the two head honchos there as well -- and we're definitely looking forward to it. Update: TechoBuffalo has it on good authority that it'll be the One X (dubbed "Jet") unveiled in New York City, and will almost certainly boast LTE. Then again, so will Sprint's eventual edition of the Galaxy Nexus, which is growing more and more dated with each passing hour.

It's hard to say what Nokia's going to reveal at this year's MWC, but naturally we have a hard time believing it will be any less shocking than what the Finnish company had in store for us last year. After all, we're rather certain that tonight's announcement will feature more from the same mobile platform it launched twelve months ago, not to mention the addition of a few extra lower-end devices. Join with us as we learn more of Stephen Elop's secrets in Barcelona!
