  • Black Desert gets an official Russian trailer

    If your eyes are closely fixed on Black Desert, you're probably soaking up any piece of information you can get about the game. So you'll be happy to learn that an official trailer is now available. The down side is that it's in Russian, which will render the words of the trailer a bit impenetrable to those who don't speak the language. Then again, language hurdles have always been an issue for fans of this game in America, and you can still enjoy the game footage just past the break. There's no announced release date on these shores, but with a certain publisher lined up, it's only a matter of time.

  • City of Titans shows off engine progress for July 4th

    Everyone celebrates the 4th of July in different ways. City of Titans celebrated with fireworks. That might not seem like much until you watch the video and understand that it's the first video wherein every single shot is focused on things that the design team made. The fireworks, the physics effects governing them, most of the buildings -- all designed by the team at Missing Worlds Media. Previous videos of the game have relied heavily upon off-the-shelf assets and resources that other people had made, but this video is a look at a landscape moving from "designed by others" to "designed just for this game." Obviously there's a long way to go, but if you're looking forward to seeing what the team at Missing Worlds Media can do in the future, this is a good place to start. [Thanks to Byron for the tip!]

  • Linden Lab reveals its next game, Patterns

    Where does a company like Linden Lab go after Second Life? Obviously any other titles from the studio need to be creative and offer players a wide realm of personalized options... but Second Life is so open that it's difficult to follow up with something that's any more open to player creativity. Nevertheless, the company is certainly aiming for that with its upcoming new title, Patterns. And while the game looks at a glance like Minecraft with triangles, there's more to the concept than that. As explained in the trailer, Patterns is focused on an experience not dissimilar to Minecraft but with a heavier focus on creativity. The game will sport a real-time physics engine as demonstrated in the trailer, giving objects physical properties that come into play as they enter the world. While the game is still in very early development, you can get a sense of what's in the future by glancing at the trailer just past the break.

  • Conquer Online taking itself on to the iPad

    Conquer Online took the step toward cross-platform play options not so long ago with the release of a Mac client, but it's moving forward yet again. The game is going to be launching on the iPad as well in the very near future, complete with a touch-based interface and all of the game's existing free-to-play content. While the iPad has seen its share of MMO-style games since its introduction, this is the first time an established game has been ported over to the platform. And make no mistake, there are a lot of features available to players, as evidenced by the game guide for players planning on moving in to the iPad version. Take a look past the cut for a trailer previewing the gameplay and mechanics on the tablet, and keep your eyes peeled for the exact release date. It's not quite the World of Warcraft demo someone managed to run on the iPad a few years back, but it's still quite interesting. [Source: Press release]

  • Final Fantasy XI gets an Abyssean trailer

    The highly anticipated December version update for Final Fantasy XI looks to be going live on December 6th. That's not quite certain yet, but considering that the newest update to the Heroes of Abyssea site lists that as the activation date, it's reasonable to assume the game's next major patch will be going live then. It also comes with a trailer showing off the new monsters listed under the bestiary, as well as the landscape for players to explore. Orthrus, Alfard, and Khrysokhimaira are the three headlining notorious monsters for the add-on, with the trailer giving some sense of just how large the monsters are in comparison with players. Combined with the extant previews of the completed Empyrean Armor sets and the option to pre-purchase the mini-expansion, Final Fantasy XI players will have plenty to whet their appetites until the forecasted release date in a little less than two weeks' time.

  • Final Fantasy XI shows off job emotes in a new trailer

    Final Fantasy XI's multiple jobs present a unique problem -- how do you convince the rest of your party that you're the experienced one with a level 85 Red Mage if you're grouped up as a level 16 Dragoon? If you said "by being patronizing," well, you knew the old route. But the brand-new job emotes coming in the December version update offer you another option for showing off your favorite job for anyone to see. It also gives players a new way to express themselves visually, but we're sure that part is secondary. Square-Enix has just released a trailer showing off the 20 emotes available for characters to wield, with each unlocked via a quest at level 30. While level 30 isn't the apex of power, each emote can be wielded regardless of a player's job at the time, making them fun little visual toys that are at least more flexible than the frequently mocked bell emotes. Take a look past the cut for the trailer detailing the individual expressions for each of Final Fantasy XI's numerous but distinct classes.

  • Kitsu Saga shows off character options and a preview trailer

    Kitsu Saga, the newest free-to-play game from Aeria Games, is currently still in the midst of beta. While we were a bit unfamiliar with the game when it was first announced -- which is to say completely unaware of it -- we've just been given both a preview trailer for the game (embedded after the cut) and a small gallery of images showing off the range of body types available to players during character creation. According to the development team, characters can be aged as well as having different body types, which has a direct impact on the character's abilities. A middle-aged and heavily muscled man will have better physical stats at creation than a willowy little girly man, for example. Aside from character creation, both the gallery and the trailer show off the clean and cartoonish style of the game's graphics.
