Japanese isn't exactly our strong suit here at Joystiq, though one intrepid staffer has the ability to make those crazy shapes interpretable. And he's explained that the teaser for next month's issue of J-mag V Jump has some enticingly vague information about an upcoming collaboration between the magazine and publisher Square Enix. Out of the six lines of indecipherable glyphs (to our gaijin eyes, at least), he gleaned this gem: "Together with Square Enix, we're producing the next generation epic 'Project V!' Could your ideas become reality!?" For clarity's sake, the snippet isn't referring to that other Project V.We're not quite sure our ideas will become reality, but we suspect we'll at least find out more about the partnership in next month's issue. (And if you're one of those people with the amazing ability to read Japanese, you'll want to head over to the magazine's website and look out for the symbol you see on the right.)[Via 1UP]

Just Add Water has confirmed that its upcoming first-party project, currently called "Project V," will be an old school shooter. "It's first-party for Sony, so we can't talk about it too much, but it's a retro shooting game," Stewart Gilray told VG247. He also confirmed a simultaneous PSP and PS3 release. This upcoming PlayStation Network game will be fully unveiled at E3 later this year. Although the game sounds simple conceptually, there must be something truly special about it for Sony to pick it up as a first-party title. "We showed it to Sony last year and they snapped it up straight away." If it can come close to the spirit of Everyday Shooter or Super Stardust, then we know we have a winner.

SCEE is partnering up with development studio Just Add Water on a new downloadable PlayStation Network game, for both PS3 and PSP. Currently called "Project V," the game is expected to be announced at E3.PSP has received a number of PSN ports in the past, such as Super Stardust Portable and Everyday Shooter. However, this may be the first time the two platforms will receive a downloadable game simultaneously. [Update: We forgot about Echochrome!] Obviously, details on the upcoming title are slim, but it'll be interesting to see how the two platforms interface with each other (if at all).[Via superannuation]
