We absolutely recognize that we should focus on the new PSN game, TerRover, this week, and acknowledge that Dragon Age: Origins' "Witch Hunt" DLC is now available, but we we can't help but take note of something down in the "themes" section. There's a "Hot for Teacher" premium theme available now for PSP and PS3. We have no idea what it is, but now we can't get that Van Halen video out of our heads. Happy ModNation Racers day, everyone! A healthy portion of the European PSN update this week focuses on United Front's customizable racer on both its big and tiny platforms. There's also the launch of downloadable versions of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands and Armoured Core 3 Portable on the PSP, the addition of the "Darkspawn Chronicles" DLC for Dragon Age: Origins and Aerosmith's "Love in an Elevator" finally gets added to Guitar Hero 5. We can sleep well tonight with that knowledge in our brains. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Your choices for downloadable games in this week's European PSN update are fairly limited -- however, the two choices you've got are rather appealing. If you're looking for a hex-based diplomacy simulator, Catan is now available for the PS3. If you want some jetpack-infused action, Rocket Knight is probably a safer choice. Or, if you want to pimp out your copy of Skate 3, DJ Hero, Nier or LittleBigPlanet with new DLC, there are a few avenues for you to explore as well. Everyone's a winner! Our world's been flipped, turned upside-down! Yes, European PSN updates are now going to take place on Wednesday, which means we're going to have to find something else in Thursday to get excited about. As we ponder this dilemma, check out some of the new stuff that drops this week, including Modern Warfare 2's "Stimulus Package," Kick-Ass: The Game, Feeding Frenzy 2, and ... the soundtrack for Flower? Yeah, okay. Sure. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Well, that's it, no more PSN Thursday. Starting next week, the updates will occur on Tuesday in North America and Wednesday in Europe. We'll be altering the title and tag to reflect the change. Check out the full update after the break. Also ... don't blink. Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Though there's not much new in the "playable games" department, this week's PSN update adds a number of expansions to at least a few games you probably already own, such as Dante's Inferno, Super Street Fighter IV, MAG and Just Cause 2. The PSP gets some new DLC as well, in the shape of a new content kit for LittleBigPlanet and Buzz! Quiz World. Oh, and don't even worry about whether or not "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life" made it into Karaoke Revolution, because, as of today, it totally has. Whether you're a sports nut, pilot, or monkey ... um, islander, there's something for you to check out this week. This is one of the largest updates in recent memory, so go wild with the new MLB.tv app, or download new games, like After Burner Climax. Don't forget to check out the new Uncharted 2 DLC as well. There's a whole gang of playable content to get excited about in this week's European PSN update, such as Lead and Gold, After Burner Climax, the Lost Planet 2 multiplayer demo and UNO on the PSP. However, we'd make a strong case that the highlight of this most recent batch of additions isn't playable at all. We're speaking, of course, of the Sonic The Hedgehog comic from Archie Comics. Think we're joking? Look, right there, on the cover: "The World's Most Way Past Cool Comic!" How can you say no to that? • PSN Thursday no more: say hello to PSN Tuesday and Wednesday

    04.15.2010

Do you sometimes get jealous of your Xbox-owning friends that are able to download demos and DLC a day earlier than you? Don't worry, PS3 fans. Sony has a solution: Release content before Microsoft! Both the American and European PlayStation Store updates are moving to new days, starting in May. Tuesdays become the new day for PSN updates in North America, as recently explained by Pulse's Christina Lee (pictured, above). In Europe, content will be updated on Wednesday, as explained by SCEE's Mike Kebby. While this may seem like terrific news for PlayStation fans, we're pretty certain this is how the time wars begin. With Sony pushing earlier, Microsoft will have no choice but to retaliate by sending Major Nelson back in time to assassinate the unborn Kevin Butler! Don't worry, though. We're pretty certain he knows how to travel through time as well. [Thanks, Doug M.!]

Final Fight: Double Impact is the highlight of this week's PSN update -- especially if you're a Magic Sword fanboy. Those interested in test drives can take the Skate 3 demo out for an ollie, while the latest Sam & Max adventure game is also available to try. As has become normal, there's an impressive new helping of comics for the PSP. This latest update adds the first eight issues of Kick-Ass, which has, as they stamp on the covers of those rectangular objects known as books nowadays, become "a major motion picture." This week's European PSN update caters to a wide variety of interests. Fan of humorous adventure games? Check out the first episode of Sam & Max - The Devil's Playhouse. Looking to revisit an timeless classic? You should pick up Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. Wanna know what this Kick-Ass business is all about? You can grab the entire comic series on the PSP's Digital Comics Reader. Can't get enough of Britney Spear's impossibly catchy "Toxic?" Guess what -- it's on Karaoke Revolution now. You're welcome! It's the season finale of The Tester! How excited are you? OMG, omg, omg, totally can't wait to watch that guy, that other guy and that girl compete to get ... the thing that they are trying to win. Yeah, it's going to be awesome. (If anyone watched the series, how was it?) PSP owners should go ahead and enjoy another heaping helping of new comics. There's a handful of mysterious offerings in this week's European PSN update -- the most notable being the launch of chapters 4 - 6 of Blue Toad Murder Files, which, by its very nature, is extremely mysterious. Then there's the mystery of the misspelled moniker of Freekscape: Escape from Hell and, finally, the mystery of "no, seriously, what the hell is FirstPlay, and why am I paying £8.99 for three months of it?" Let the sleuthing begin! Choose your platform to view the corresponding release list: (Note: Continue past the break to view both release lists.)

Heavy Rain's "The Taxidermist" DLC is ready to fill you up with more suspense for $5. To access your wallet, you'll have to flick your analog stick up and to the right. PSP owners can download titles like BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and Perv Simu ... ok, fine, Dead or Alive Paradise -- we still contend we were going down the right path the first time. As is pretty common, the latest deluge of PSP comics is the real draw for the handheld. Debuting this week on the PlayStation Network store is the Blue Toad Murder Files series, an episodic puzzle-adventure from Relentless Software, makers of the BUZZ! quiz games. We also have the first (free) MAG DLC, the debut of the multiplayer-only sci-fi FPS Section 8 and two new PS3 dynamic themes -- Heavy Rain Forest A.R.I. and Mega Man 10 -- joined by some PSN-only games and plenty of DLC. PSP gets some full game download love, including Cho Aniki Zero. Oh, and there's episode six of The Tester. [Famitsu] Last week's sale continues, joined by even more discounts. If you wanted to buy something on PSN before -- particularly a Sega product -- and it was too expensive, you should check the list this week. Odds are, it's cheaper now! In less bargain-oriented news, there's now a Mega Man 10 dynamic theme. Sony finally found the right weapon against which our resolve is weakest. Though there's not much on the "new game front" in this week's European PSN update, there's plenty of new stuff for the games you already know and love. There's the release of Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening, new cars for Need For Speed: Shift, some LittleBigPlanet PSP love, the arrival of Patchwork Heroes and, of course, the Gaga-ization of the Rock Band Music Store. The Blue Bomber -- who is inconveniently red in the pic above -- returns in the retro-centric Mega Man 10. Those who returned to Rapture with BioShock 2 can also pick up the "Sinclair Solutions Test Pack" for $5. There's also the fourth episode of The Tester -- how's that going? Oh yeah, for those with an interest in baseball (it's a game played with a stick), there's a demo for MLB 10: The Show. For those with a PSP, it's another solid comic book update.
