Nintendo issues a 3DS release date date
Find the headline confusing? Well, the explanation won't help to assuage the muddle much. A Nintendo spokesman told Bloomberg Japan that Ninty plans to announce the Nintendo 3DS price and release date on September 29th. Thus far, we've only seen speculation about pricing (between $249 and $299) and release dates (between October and March, 2011). So yeah, we still don't know when or for how much but at least we know when we'll find out when and for how much. Make sense?
Apple posts $3.38b Q1 profit: iPhone sales double, Macs up 33 percent, iPods down eight

The company brought in revenues of $15.68 billion, good for $3.38 billion in profit, or $3.67 profit per share. That's up from last quarter's profit of $2.26 billion on $11.88 billion in revenue, and in fact, it's Apple's all-time highest revenue and profits. Steve sounds pretty pleased in the PR, and hints at far more to come: "The new products we are planning to release this year are very strong, starting this week with a major new product that we're really excited about." We're sure to find out more later on the analyst conference call, so stay tuned. Lenovo Ion-powered IdeaCenter Q110 nettop on sale now
The slow wave of NVIDIA Ion-based machines continues to wash in -- as expected, the Lenovo Q110 nettop is now on sale. We'd actually wait another couple weeks to score this rig with Windows 7 preloaded, but if you're into Vista you can grab it right now for $399 with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB drive and take a free upgrade disc when it's available. Lenovo debuts IdeaCentre D400 home server, 'world's thinnest' Q100 and Q110 nettops
Remember those digital home products we saw Lenovo tease yesterday? Yeah, they're real, and they're now more official than ever. Kicking things off is the company's first-ever home server, the IdeaCentre D400, which sort of resembles a certain Acer product and supports up to 8TB of storage via multiple types / sizes of HDDs; there's also five USB sockets along with an eSATA port for adding even more storage externally. Next up is the IdeaCentre Q100 and NVIDIA Ion-powered Q110 nettops, both of which measure in at just 6- x 6.3- x 0.7-inches and offer plenty of basic power for the size. The WinXP-equipped Q100 hums along on 14 watts when idle (40 watts at full load) and sports a single VGA port, while the Vista-laden Q110 dishes out 1080p content over HDMI; further specs include an Atom 230 CPU, 1GB / 2GB of RAM, 160GB / 250GB hard drives, gigabit Ethernet and WiFi. As for pricing? The D400 should start around $499, the Q100 approximately $249 and the Q110 at $349 when they all ship next month. Lenovo teases IdeaCentre Q100 / Q110 nettops, D400 home server
There's not a lot to go on here, but Lenovo's official Twitter account posted pictures of two products that are purportedly being revealed in more detail later this week. The IdeaCentre Q100 / Q110 nettops are said to be "some of the thinnest nettops in the world," and while the teaser image is certainly a looker, for better and for worse we can already smell the Atom processor from here. Also on the menu is the IdeaCentre D400, the company's first home server. We Got Served did a little digging, and as it turns out, the D400 was released in Asia at the beginning of this month, with four hot swappable bays, four USB ports, and an eSATA port. It'd be nice to know when this week Lenovo was planning to lift the veil of secrecy, but at least we won't be worrying about it come Saturday. Qsonix delivers 17-inch TS17 touchscreen for Q110 music management system
For those spending upwards of $6,000 on a sophisticated Q110 music management system, having an expansive 17-inch touch panel to control things is a practical necessity. The device is available in 250GB, 500GB or 1TB kits and features front access USB / accessory ports, four discrete analog audio outputs for multi-room applications and IR remote control capabilities. Additionally, it comes bundled with the latest (v2.2) software that adds "a fully integrated MusicGiants HD Download Store using Qsonix's Album Browser drag-and-drop interface," and just in case you plan on never going there, each system comes with a $50 music store credit to rope you in.
