After the surprisingly funny Sordahon's Journey videos, it's disappointing to see SouthPeak return to a more traditional style for its latest Two Worlds 2 trailer. Sure, you might actually learn something about the game -- the fact that it looks worlds better, for example -- but where's the fun in that?

While we doubt Oblivion will credit Reality Pump's Two Worlds as the wind beneath its wings, we still can't help but wonder if it's cold there living in the shadow of Bethesda's role-playing opus. Nevertheless, the lesser of the two open-ended RPGs continues to get love by way of downloadable content, the latest of which dropped today over Xbox Live. Dubbed Curse of Souls, the 600 point multiplayer-focused affair is the game's second, following the already available Tainted Blood, and promises, among other things, an extra 10 hours of content spread over 35 new quests. The download also adds a player-versus-player arena throwdown in the town of Tharnburg, no doubt making for a thrilling spectacle for the handful of players still frolicking in the world of Antaloor as they wait for the game's recently confirmed sequel.[Via Press Release]

  • Two Worlds: The Temptation dated for fall, now called a sequel

It appears as if SouthPeak and developer Reality Pump have big plans for Two Worlds: The Temptation, as the previously announced release has been upgraded from mere expansion to full-on sequel status, with the game expected to ship to retail this fall for both the PC and Xbox 360. The Temptation will pick up following the events in the first game, a title mind you that was almost universally derided when it was released in 2007.While SouthPeak remains mum on many of the sequel's specifics, the company notes that The Temptation will pack in "as much content as the original," as well as a new graphics engine, improved voice overs and "more intricate" missions. The publisher also describes the sequel's combat as "revamped," a fancy term that we hope translates to "not horribly broken."%Gallery-18838%

  • Two Worlds expansion served up in 2008

Two Worlds wasn't exactly the Oblivion killer it was hailed to be, but apparently that isn't stopping Reality Pump from pumping out an expansion (see what we did there?). The expansion, entitled The Temptation, brings the typical things you'd expect from an expansion. These things include new areas to explore, new monsters to slay, improved NPCs, and a few new skills, most notably active blocking. The expansion is set to hit both the PC and consoles in the first half of 2008. So far the price has not been announced. But then again, you weren't really paying attention anyway, were you?[Via WorthPlaying]%Gallery-18857%

SouthPeak Games has informed us that a demo of the open world RPG Two Worlds is now available on Xbox Live. Just to be sure, we checked, and sure enough it's up there. Two Worlds is pretty much the closest thing we've got to Diablo on Xbox Live (apart from Phantasy Star Universe and the upcoming Too Human anyway), so if you've got a hankering for the demon slaying and loot gathering of yore, give it a spin.SouthPeak also lets us know that a title update for the retail version of Two Worlds is on the way, and will include several fixes and updates asked for by the community. Check out the list of changes after the break.

Two Worlds, the upcoming RPG from Reality Pump and SouthPeak Games, has always had one thing going for it: online multiplayer. With an similar design aesthetic to the 360's crown champion RPG, Oblivion, multiplayer is really the major selling point for Two Worlds. Sure, the game's creators contend that it improves on Oblivion in many ways, but for most gamers, the focus has been the promise of multiplayer. So, we knew about that. What we didn't know was that Two Worlds is the most epic RPG of all time. Yes, according to this latest promotional video, Two Worlds is just that. We certainly don't want to argue with marketing material (it's so shiny!), but we think we'll reserve judgment until the game is actually available.

Two Worlds has seen so many release date changes it's getting hard to keep track of them. Back in May, Two Worlds was set for a release in July. Then we heard just last week that the game would be released in August. Now, speaking to GamingTalkHQ, SouthPeak has announced that the game will be coming out in July after all. Specifically, a SouthPeak representative said that the game will release on July 31st (assuming that this time the date is correct anyway). Whenever Two Worlds does come out, we hope it's worth the wait.

Two Worlds publisher SouthPeak told Euroganer that the title would be hitting retailer shelves on Xbox 360 and PC in early August. They didn't narrow it down further than that, but reaffirmed that both platforms would see a simultaneous release. The one thing that really sets this free roaming RPG from Oblivion is the persistent multiplayer aspect of the game. Are you looking forward to playing online with Two Worlds this summer?

Eurogamer recently got their hands on an early build of the Xbox 360 version of Two Worlds, the open world RPG from Reality Pump and Southpeak. Eurogamer notes that the game's constant comparison to Oblivion is not unwarranted, and that the games actually share quite a bit as far as aesthetics and genre are concerned. Like Oblivion, Two Worlds gives players many, many opportunities to avoid the main storyline. Yes, there are sub-quests aplenty, so many in fact that you could probably spend dozens of hours in the game before beginning the main quest at all. The article does note, however, that many of Two Worlds' graphical elements (particularly human faces) don't hold up well compared to Oblivion. Likewise, the combat -- both magical and melee -- looks as though it could get repetitive quickly. Eurogamer remains hopeful that combat will be spruced up in the final version. They also believe that Two Worlds' much vaunted multiplayer mode could become the feature that sets the game apart. All in all, Eurogamer wasn't floored by Two Worlds, but they're looking forward to spending more time with the finished version. Our question to you: is a free online multiplayer mode enough to make you consider Two Worlds?

Eurogamer reports that SouthPeak has announced that Two Worlds will officially make its way to the Xbox 360 in July. Officially delayed earlier this month, Two Worlds will finally be available this summer. Part Oblivion and part Diablo/Guild Wars, Two Worlds offers players a huge world to explore. The game also features and MMO component, which allows up to 8 players to party up inside of hub cities that house thousands of players. The game also features a unique spell naming system, in which players name their own spells. Should you create an original spell, its name will stick and become the official name for the online game world. All in all, it sounds like manna from heaven for RPG players looking for a more social experience. Oh, and did we mention online play is free? Yeah, well, it is.

Speaking to Edge magazine, Alexandra Constandache, CEO of Zuxxes Entertainment, clears up a few points about their upcoming MMORPG Two Worlds. It was announced in February that Two Worlds had become a massively multiplayer online game. It seems that some confusion arose concerning the term MMO, but Constandache notes that Two Worlds was designed from the ground up as an MMO title. She goes on to explain that there is some difficulty in defining the term MMO, noting that all that separates Two Worlds from other MMOs is that it will lack monthly subscription fees (if you don't already know, Two Worlds will be free to play). Finally, Constandache defends Two Worlds from those that would simply label it a poor man's Oblivon, saying that anyone who plays the game think otherwise. Two Worlds, says Constandache, will be much more accessible to gamers who "may not want to wade through unfriendly interface and mundane tasks before they find where the fun is." Sounds good to us.

  • RPG fans denied: Two Worlds delayed

The official Two Worlds website revealed today that the Xbox 360 version has been delayed. Though a reason has not been given, we know that the game will not be releasing alongside its PC cousin on May 9th. The official website does note, however, that the console development "ran like clockwork" and that the final product "leaves nothing to be desired." In other words, it sounds like the game is being held up by the publishers, not development. Of further interest, according to the Two Worlds site, a German magazine by the name of 360 Live has given Two Worlds a 9.3 out of 10 saying, "A fantastic RP experience, full of life and ideas... who would ever have thought that Oblivion could be dethroned so fast? This Two Worlds is indeed a worthy successor!!"Any Oblivion player will tell you, those are hefty words of praise. It will be some time before 360 owners can judge the veracity of this review, as a new release date has not been set.

It's been some time since we've seen or heard anything new about Two Worlds, the upcoming online RPG from Southpeak Interactive and Reality Pump. Lucky for us, a new trailer for the game has been released. The trailer shows off the the game's environments, characters, and some combat as well. Graphically, the game is looking mighty impressive, with visuals comparable to (but not quite as good as) Oblivion. The towns feature some particularly nice textures. There are several different weapon types displayed in the video, including swords, staves, maces, and spears. The video also shows glimpses of dual wielding and magic. All in all, Two Worlds is looking pretty decent. Check out the video and tell us what you think.

Xboxyde nabbed three new screens of Two Worlds, the upcoming open world RPG from Reality Pump. 360 Fanboy readers will remember that Two Worlds was recently announced as an MMOG of sorts, allowing party play over Xbox Live. The new screens show off a decent engine, although comparisons to Oblivion are inevitable (Two Worlds doesn't look quite as pretty). Assuming Two Worlds has a decent multiplayer component, would you be interested in a new open world RPG in the style of Oblivion?

Having uncovered the UK release date (May 9th) for Two Worlds, we would not be satisfied until we had a US release date in hand. Having contacted the game's developer, Reality Pump, we can now confirm a worldwide release date of May 9th. Two Worlds, for those that don't know, aspires to be a multiplayer, open ended RPG in the style of Oblivion. With any luck, it could bring solitary, single player Oblivionites together. In other news, there seems to be some confusion regarding the recent announcement that Two Worlds has gone massively multiplayer. According to IGN and 1UP, only the PC version will be an MMO and the 360 version will remain restricted to 8 players. Other sources, however, maintain that both versions will make the MMO jump. Meanwhile, the official Two Worlds website makes no distinction between the two versions. Finally, the official press release makes no note of platform exclusivity either. Whatever the 360 version's fate, we're still excited for some multiplayer RPG action.Check out the press release and make your own judgments after the break.

Hot on the heels of the official UK release date comes the news that Two Worlds has become a true massively multiplayer online game. Previously restricted to 8 players online, Two Worlds will now accommodate thousands of players online at one time. Players will be able to form groups competing to solves quests, fight in the arena, form armies, or simply enjoy a pint in the virtual pub. Not mentioned is whether or not a monthly fee will be instituted now that the game has become an MMOG. If you've been looking for an alternative to the twitch action of Gears and Rainbow Six, Two Worlds might just be the game you've been looking for. The idea of an open ended online RPG in the style of Oblivion makes us positively giddy. How about you, are you looking forward to Two Worlds now that it's an MMOG?[Thanks, milkmanjb]

  • UK explores Two Worlds in May

DCEmu reports that Two Worlds has been confirmed for a May 9th, 2007 release in Europe (and hopefully not long after that in the US). Developed by Reality Pump, Two Worlds is an open ended RPG much like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, providing players with a massive world to explore as they see fit. What sets Two Worlds apart from Oblivion is its multiplayer mode. Two Worlds allows for up to 8 players to join in a co-operative quest, and DCEmu reports that a Player-versus-Player arena is also available. The game features a unique spell system that lets players name their own spells. Should a player discover a new spell and name it, that spell's name will be persistent throughout the online world. In other words, if you discover a fire spell and call it "Fireball," then that name will automatically apply to all players who discover the same spell. If Two Worlds manages to be even half as good as Oblivion and do multiplayer right, it will be a serious contender when it releases in May. Now we just have to track down a US release date.

  • Two Worlds: Oblivion with Live co-op

IGN posted a quick and dirty un-preview of Two Worlds. They had planned to actually play the game, but were foiled by a hardware failure (3 red lights?). Still, they had the developers on hand and decided to ask some questions. Two Worlds -- as we've reported in the past -- is an open world RPG in much the same vein as Oblivion. The similarities are obvious: a huge world filled with knights, monsters, horses, spells, weapons, it's all there. What really separates Two Worlds is its online components. First and foremost, 8 players are able to join in multiplayer co-op, but we knew that before. Another very cool feature we didn't know about before: players are able to create their own spells by stacking different effects upon one another. Once players create a new spell, it can be named and registered online. If that player is the first player to register a certain spell, the name will permeate the online world. We can't wait to discover the fireball spell only to find out that someone else named it "n00b k1LL3R."If there is one fault with Oblivion (and the Elder Scrolls in general), it's that the game is a very solitary experience. The idea of a similar game with online co-op is positively delicious. Here's hoping Two Worlds delivers.
