Saturday Night Live alumni Fred Armisen and Horatio Sanz have announced a partnership with their former boss, Lorne Michaels, to launch a new Latin America-focused comedy studio called Más Mejor. The trio hopes to leverage the new union to discover and cultivate new latino stars. Más Mejor's stable already includes some fairly well-known stars including Oscar Nuñez from The Office and Carlos Alazraqui of Reno 911 fame. Their website launched Wednesday with a smattering of comedy shorts -- not to mention plenty obligatory (and well-deserved) shots at Donald Trump.

Comedy Central HD launches today, and Cablevision iO TV subscribers will be the first to see it. According to Multichannel News we can expect 200 hours or so of native HD programming to start, including about 30 episodes of South Park, The Sarah Silverman Program, plus loads of archived stand up and films. Coming up fresh and new for your HDTV is season 13 of South Park, Reno 911, The Flaming Sward of Fire and Krod Mandoon, while The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report will get an HD upgrade at a later date. Besides nabbing the exclusive, Cablevision's trumpeting its numbers showing HD penetration is up to nearly 50 percent of iO TV subs, with 69 HD channels available. Otherwise, DirecTV and Cox will be adding later this month with more launches due later in the year -- hopefully Time Warner worked that into the latest deal with Viacom.[Via Multichannel News]

Okay, we'll admit it, we haven't really delved into the Video Marketplace. Sure you can rent movies for 4 dollars. We've got a vending machine down the street that rents DVDs for a dollar a day. Yeah, they have [adult swim]. Those shows are only fifteen minutes long and they cost the same. Hell, Mission Impossible III might have gotten us to rent something, but it's not available in HD. But now, now we might just have a reason to download. That's right, Reno 911 has landed on Video Marketplace. If you've never seen the show, it's more or less a spoof of COPS (with a few members of the disbanded group, the State). Now we might actually download something (just maybe). There is a problem though, we have no idea how long this has been available. Here's hoping that Microsoft can come up with a better system for keeping customers informed. As it is, loading up the Video Marketplace and manually checking for additions just isn't cutting it.
