The votes are in, and the winner of the Gamescom 2014 Awards is ... *drumroll* Oh, you saw the headline and figured out the pun already? Well, you're right; it's Evolve, the 4v1 monster-on-human huntfest from Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios. The game took home not only the award for "Best of Gamescom," but also the awards for "Best Console Game Microsoft Xbox," "Best PC Game," "Best Action Game" and "Best Online Multiplayer Game." Other highlights include Super Smash Bros. taking home the "Best Mobile Game" award for its 3DS iteration, while its console counterpart took home the "Most Wanted Consumer Award," a title that premiered at this year's ceremony. LittleBigPlanet 3 also won multiple awards, specifically the "Best Social / Casual / Online Game" award and the "Best Family Game" award. We're relatively sure that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call won the award for "Best Simulation Game" due to its simulation of music, but we can pretend it won because it simulates being an adorable JRPG character singing along to catchy tunes, too. Check out the full list of winners after the break.

When your world's gods have bailed, how do you combat mysterious, unchecked enemies stemming from the darkness? You side with the faction called Demon Hunters, earn a bunch of skills and gear from quests and then trample everything in sight with your newly-earned power. Risen 3: Titan Lords' adventurers will have three allegiances to choose from, though Deep Silver's recent press release and accompanying batch of screens only detail the Demon Hunters. The Demon Hunters are recovering from a bit of a slump ... okay, slump probably understates a few decades' worth of time. The point is, they're getting back together, arming themselves to restore their once-glorious citadel and reestablish fear in their enemies, which we're assuming would be the demons. Risen 3 won't reach the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC until August 12, but you can pass some time viewing its landscapes in the gallery below, complete with twisted creatures that look like some prime prey for the Demon Hunters. Furthering the gaming industry's fascination with the word "titan" comes Risen 3: Titan Lords, an epic roleplaying adventure slated for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC release on August 12. Less than a month ago we brought you a short teaser clip, depicting an armored warrior battling what appears to be an infernal hound, driven purely by an unholy lust for living flesh. As it turns out, that demonic pooch wasn't acting alone. The extended version of the trailer, which you can view above, introduces a floating apparition with a skeleton's face, ram horns and gouts of blue flame where his eyes ought to be. As you probably guessed, the undying specter isn't too friendly. Alongside the new trailer and release date, a few minor details on Risen 3 have emerged. According to publisher Deep Silver, the game features overhauled combat, new animations and an improved magic system. No solid plot details have yet appeared, but we expect to hear more soon. Attach a Sarah McLachlan song to this new Risen 3: Titan Lords teaser and suddenly that ferocious hellhound becomes a cuddly, misunderstood puppy, lost in a world of dark magic and knights who taste remarkably like snausages. [Image: Deep Silver]
