Leave it to LG to come up with an idea to reinvent the same hot, trendy QWERTY phone for The Network and release it in a different color. Enter Verizon's enV (aka VX9900) in a new color scheme that closely resembles a color normally reserved for Crayola's Crayons (think burnt sienna). With no "official" word on pricing or a release date from Verizon, we doubt this will stay under wraps for much longer. Stay tuned for more info![Thanks, Roc A Fella]

  • Verizon prepping iPhone killers from Motorola and LG?

When Verizon passed on the iPhone, was it a bad business decision or was it a part of a much larger idea for The Network to bring a next-generation music device to market? Enter Motorola and what is being described as an "iPhone Killer" by employees of both companies. Code named the "M" and designed for the mediacentric user, it's likely to impress (if they really want to kill the iPhone, anyway). Details are on the slim side, but reports suggest a 3 megapixel shooter with a large QVGA display and lots of internal storage. In addition to the M, word is that LG is preparing a CDMA version of the popular -- but -- expensive KE850 (aka Prada) for release sometime in the 3rd quarter (this one's also a potential iPhone nemesis, if you ask us). Make sure you keep a lookout for more deets![Thanks, Roc a fella]

Every now and then, Verizon will play with our emotions by setting a launch date for a device and then pulling it back when that info gets leaked by one of our tipsters. It wasn't too long ago when The Roc showed us pics of the device. Since then, the stores have received the dummy units and the price points have been set, so the actual launch can't be too far off. Thanks to HTC Kid, he was able to smuggle out the pricing which is listed as $349.99 commitment free, $299.99 on a one year, and $249.99 on a life long two year contract. Oh yeah, he reports that it should be in retail for launch on February 16th. Hopefully, it won't get delayed any longer as it may turn out to be last year's news if it does.

We know this Samsung isn't that Samsung Roc says, "more on that later," but some things are better than nothing, right? Enter in the latest addition to their low-tier handset lineup, the Samsung U340. Now there isn't a lot to write home about, but this device has all the standard goodies like a VGA camera, an internal 65,000 TFT display, an external greyscale display, speakerphone, and a feature called I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency) which allows access to a limited contact menu when the phone is locked. Look for the device to release on February 2nd with the following pricing: $149.99 on full retail, $79.99 on a one year, and $29.99 on a two year. Roc even says that there will be an exclusive offer for online activations / renewals making the device free after instant rebate.

We'll let you in on a little secret. Cingular is releasing the Treo 750 on Monday. OK, it's not necessarily a secret, however if you were one to doubt the release date, The Roc comes through and shows his Cingular store's stock of these bad boys. Stores should have the device along with the mail-in rebate already as Monday is steadily approaching. There hasn't been any change to the price, so if you plan on picking one of these up, we suggest you bring the plastic.

Roc A Fella's back, people! The word we got from a very recent Verizon Wireless timeline he sent in is that the V's releasing three new EV-DO Windows Mobile devices by year's end. The Pantech 820 (after the break) appears to have had its launch date pushed back to September 29th, but as far as we know the Smartphone will still feature a 1.3 megapixel camera with flash, miniSD slot, and Bluetooth when it hits stores. The other two devices are manufactured by UT Starcom, and are codenamed Libra and Titan, which should both run Pocket PC and have pushemail support with AKU2; the Libra is looking at a November 15th launch date, just a month before the December 15th launch of the Titan (which we don't, in fact, believe has any relation to the TyTn). Other details on the devices are kinda sketchy right now, but we're sure that they'll surface sooner than you think.
