On the surface, Sprint's Ambassador Program seems like a great way to get valuable feedback from high-profile mobile users: give free phones and wireless service to 400-odd bloggers in exchange for regular reports concerning their pros and cons. Unfortunately -- at least according to two former Ambassadors -- there are more strings attached than those that are spelled out in the contract; both designer Eston Bond and consultant Michael Mace claim that they were kicked out of the program because they didn't write anything positive about the Samsung A920 they were given to test. While bloggers who did feature glowing reviews of the handset were invited to participate for another six months using another free phone (this time, an LG Fusic), those who criticized the Samsung or didn't post anything at all were told that their services were no longer needed. Basically, it seems that what Sprint really wanted out of the program was free marketing, and that the request for feedback was only a cover story so that the whole thing didn't come across as shady. In the end, though, it sounds like Sprint may have learned its lesson the hard way: although many of the less trafficked blogs did indeed give props to the A920, several high-profile bloggers like Jeff Jarvis slammed the hardware along with the company's customer service, meaning that more bad publicity probably resulted from this experiment than good.Read- Eston BondRead- Michael Mace
