It's going to come as a surprise to very few of you (about 11% of you) that Sapphiron came out ahead of Bloodlord Mandokir in our most recent match of Two Bosses Enter. I suppose it's not unexpected, as Mandokir's greatest strength (his ability to grow in power as he kills people) would do him little good in a one-on-one match with Sapphiron. In this fight, Mandokir was little more than a powerful meleer, and eaten alive by Sapphiron's death-from-above approach. The exact results of the fight are as follows: All I can say is ouch. It looks like the Bloodlord is heading back home to Zul'Gurub with a badly bruised ego -- though after eating a few raid groups (who no doubt don't take him seriously, because he's old-world content) I'm sure he'll be right back in the game. Our next match, between Ahn'Qiraj's Moam and Zul'Gurub's Hakkar (yes, after this one-sided fight, our brackets have been rearranged to, hopefully, make for more interesting battles in the future).

This week, Two Bosses Enter starts its second round of boss deathmatches. We started this game back in June with 32 bosses to chose from and now we're down to a scant 16. Some of our results have already surprised me -- and I have no doubts that more surprises are in store as our next round of battle begins. Our matchups for this round are as follows: Sapphiron vs. Mandokir Moam vs. the Twin Emperors Ragnaros vs. Ossirian Kel'Thuzad vs. Archimonde Vaelastrasz vs. Hakkar Illidan vs. Chromaggus Vashj vs. Huhurahn Gruul vs. C'Thun Today we'll consider the first fight of the next eight: Sapphiron against the Bloodlord Mandokir. Who wins and who loses? Read on and decide for yourself!

  • One Boss Leaves: Onyxia vs. Sapphiron wrap-up

Last week we pitted Onyxia against Sapphiron in the battle of the dragonflights. And if the screenshot above is any indication, you should be able to make a reasonable guess as to who won. Sapphiron absolutely wiped the floor with Onyxia, as you can see from the result of our poll: Of the responses, readers felt that even if their health and damage levels were equivallent, Sapphiron would win out for several reasons: Sapphiron is an older and more experienced dragon (he lived a long life before becoming undead!) Sapphiron can drain life to regenerate health, whereas Onyxia can just deal damage. In our scenario, Onyxia didn't have her swarms of dragon whelps to cause trouble. Thus far, in our epic battle of the bosses of World of Warcraft we've only seen one fight, but here's the standings so far. It's too late to have a say in last week's battle, but the next fight, between General Rajaxx and Bloodlord Mandokir is coming up this afternoon. Stay tuned!

Two bosses enter... but only one gets to leave! In this feature of pure speculation and theorycrafting, we're going to talk about the major bosses found in the World of Warcraft and pit them against one another -- until at the end we have a single winner. From the hundreds of bosses in the game, we've picked 32 of the most interesting to match up in a series of fights -- where you get to decide the winner. And we're going to start out with a dragon battle for the ages: the black flight vs. the blue flight, the living vs. the undead, Onyxia vs. Sapphiron. For more information on these two bosses, speculation on what might happen if they ever met up in Azeroth, and a chance to vote for the winner, read on!

Curse Gaming has posted videos of three huge worldfirst events lately: the killing of Sapphiron (D&T did it first, but Beyond Redemption is shown in the vid), Nihilum's downing of Kel'Thuzad, and Risen's crafting of the the worldfirst of Atiesh. If you're already read up on these three, the videos won't tell you much more-- watching people do this stuff is, of course, never as fun as doing it. But if you haven't made it to Naxx yet, or haven't participated in extreme endgame content, it's neat to get a look at it-- especially through the eyes (and UI mods) of some of the best players in the game.

Yeah, I just got pulled out of my BRD run to tell you: Death and Taxes has downed Sapphiron for another world first. Don't these guys ever take a day off? Their website is probably downed as well, but here it is if you can reach it. Grats to them on the world first of Sapphiron.P.S. When stuff like this happens, we love (really love) to get your tips about it. Feel free to use the "Send us news tips" link on the sidebar. It'll reach us even faster than leaving a comment. Thanks!
