  • Scream to access all of Dead Space 3's Kinect voice commands

Dead Space 3 doesn't want you to just scream in terror at the screen. With Kinect, Dead Space 3 allows players to say "more than 40 intuitive voice commands," rather than pressing all those pesky buttons. The image below outlines all of the voice commands players will be able to use, separated by interface, gameplay actions, skip and tram locations, and co-op actions. For example, to pull up the inventory the voice command is, "access inventory." To reload, it's "reload weapon," a paired attack escape is "get off me," and to call a partner over for aid it's "help me." Unfortunately there is no action triggered by the "scream like a banshee" voice command.

  • The Weinstein Company announces TWC Games label

Having reached the pinnacle of success in the film industry -- by distributing Best Picture-winning The King's Speech -- The Weinstein Company has made the dutiful turn to games, taking up "a new initiative in the video game space." Forming a "strategic consultancy" with Beefy Media, the newly minted TWC Games label will look to further capitalize on Weinstein properties, notably from its Dimension Films division, by bringing them to mobile, social and console platforms. Beefy teases that "we have a bunch of products in development," but no specific game announcements have been made at this time. The Dimension label houses a host of horror franchises, including Scream, Hellraiser, Halloween and Children of the Corn, in addition to lighter fare, like Scary Movie and Spy Kids. Scream 4 hits theaters in three weeks -- so plenty of time to put together a "compelling, high quality, cost-efficient" port. They just have to change those pumpkin heads to Scream masks.

  • Scream movies are coming to Blu-ray March 29

We still don't have an exact date for Pulp Fiction, but Lionsgate is wasting no time digging into the Miramax back catalog of movies and they're starting with the first three movies in the Scream series, due to arrive individually (no boxed set option) on March 29th. Each has a $19.99 MSRP and pretty standard list of extras, including DTS-HD MA soundtrack. Amazon's already offering them for a couple bucks off of that, so there's plenty of time to decide before Scream 4 hits theaters April 15th.

Lionsgate and Studiocanal have signed a deal with Miramax to distribute its library of movies around the world, with Lionsgate handling things in the US while Studiocanal takes over the UK and Europe. Most specifically, Miramax CEO Mike Lang reveals in a blog posting that the first three Scream movies will be rereleased when Scream 4 comes to theaters in April, and the long awaited Pulp Fiction Blu-ray will finally be released in the US in June. All the rest of the details are in the press release after the break, check the blog post for more of his thoughts on DVD extras and the future of digital delivery -- Ultraviolet isn't mentioned by name, but clearly he thinks the digital locker concept is the future of video.

  • Logitech's 'Lonely TV' Revue with Google TV ad may be sending the wrong message

Logitech's promoting its Revue with Google TV box in a new "Lonely TV" series of advertisements, but while they're suggesting the relationship between internet, TV and you should be closer this latest spot only makes us want to search for a restraining order. In light of concerns some have about online privacy and exactly how much information Google is revealing about our habits, maybe a giant screen with an eyeball on it sending a teenaged girl into a panic (and not the Bieber fever) is the wrong mascot. Check out the full ad after the break and see if we're wrong -- remember, being weird worked out great for Palm.

Do you like video games? Are you filled with rage? Then GNILLEY just might be the game you've been waiting for. Developed by Glen Forrester (a.k.a. Radix) for Global Game Jam 2010, the game apparently started out as being about "pitch and color," but quickly became "all about yelling at everything," and ended up winning the award for most original game at the competition. Head on past the break to check it out for yourself -- we're sure you'll agree he made the right decision.

  • Shouting vase muffles outbursts, doubles as flower holder

We genuinely hope you don't have a need for this thing, but after standing in one of the many iPhone lines for hours on end, only to hear Apple tell you to come back in the morning and try again, we can certainly see how it would come in handy. Best we can tell, the shouting vase is just a sophisticated (or not) muffling utensil, which enables tempestuous individuals to unleash incredible roars that no one will be forced to endure. Still, at €51 ($80), this thing better produce thoughtful alternatives to our maddening rants for it to be even close to worthwhile.[Via Engadget Chinese]

While we've already heard DirecTV's claim to carry 100 HD channels in 2007 (or something like that), we've just found that one of those hundred will be dedicated entirely to the horror genre. NBC Universal has just announced that its first 24/ 7 horror channel, to be dubbed Chiller, will launch in both SD and HD formats on DirecTV. Additionally, NBC plans on offering up Chiller content through video-on-demand, although we don't know if HD VOD plans are in the pipeline. Although long-term programming goals haven't quite been nailed down, users can expect a solid lineup of classic horror content when it launches on March 1st, including Friday the 13th, Twin Peaks, The Shining, Psycho, The Birds, Sphere, The Crew, and quite a bit more. Be sure to hit the read link for the full rundown of initial programming.

  • Wes Craven pondering games career

    by

The man responsible for introducing us to Freddy Krueger may soon be following in the footsteps of the Wachowski brothers, Steven Spielberg, and other Hollywood heavyweights who are crossing over into the gaming biz. And unlike some people in the entertainment industry, writer-director Wes Craven feels that if video games contain "deep stories, characters, and narratives", they should be considered forms of art. Speaking with author and Mercury News blogger Dean Takahashi at the MI6 Game Marketing conference, Craven also confirmed he is "in talks" to make an original video game. However, if you're expecting a Resident Evil-style romp from the horror maven, you may be surprised with what he eventually produces. The former college professor feels there are not enough educational games on the market, and sees opportunities to simulate world politics and health problems. Whatever it is, Wes, don't let "you know who" make a movie out of it.In addition to Nightmare on Elm Street, the prolific Craven has also written and/or directed The Hills Have Eyes, Swamp Thing, Scream, and Red Eye.See also: WesCraven.com
